Social Media Manager (Contract)

San Mateo, CA (Hybrid/1 day a week)

Contract: 1 year duration 

 

Role Overview 

Global Content Communications is looking for a Social Media Manager (Contract) to help lead channel strategy and execution across multiple consumer-facing entertainment brands. This role will serve as a key day-to-day partner in planning, creating, publishing, and optimizing social content across several brand handles, while helping ensure work moves smoothly through internal and external approval flows. 

 

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable thinking strategically and executing tactically. They should understand what high-performing social content looks like, know how to tailor ideas to native platforms, and be confident managing editorial planning, publishing, copywriting, content creation, approvals, and cross-functional coordination across multiple workstreams at once. 

 

This role will support a portfolio of multiple distinct brands or entities and their bespoke social handles. It requires strong social instincts, excellent judgment, a highly organized approach to process, and comfort operating in a collaborative environment with a range of stakeholders. A strong understanding of gaming audiences and culture is highly valued. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Help lead channel strategy and day-to-day execution across multiple consumer-facing entertainment brands and social handles. 
  • Co-own editorial planning, publishing calendars, content creation and execution across channels including X, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook, and others as needed. 
  • Shape content ideas and write platform-native social copy, video treatments, etc that reflects each brand’s voice, audience, and objectives. 
  • Partner across teams to manage approvals, timelines, and workflows for campaigns, content drops, brand moments, and partnership-related initiatives. 
  • Support end-to-end social execution, from strategy, planning, proposal development to publishing, optimization, and reporting. 
  • Coordinate across departments and stakeholders to keep projects moving, maintain alignment, and ensure content is accurate, on-brand, and delivered on time. 
  • Help establish and maintain new processes, clear approval streams, workflows, SLAs, and responsibilities across internal and external partners via documentation and socializing 
  • Bring a strong understanding of native platform behavior, evolving social trends, and best practices for audience-first content. 
  • Contribute to content creation and be comfortable with light hands-on asset editing and creative support where needed. 
  • Use channel and platform learnings to help refine strategy, inform future planning, and improve overall execution. 
  • Support occasional real-time, off-site, off-hours needs around key moments, launches, announcements, or special projects. This could include but is not limited to content capture, in-person interviews, hands-on events, conferences, and beyond.  
  • Create executive level presentations and reports to showcase work, learnings, and business impact. 
  • Be actively informed of social media, pop culture, real-world as well as gaming news to inform trends, sensitivity, and cultural relevance.  

 

What We’re Looking For 

  • 5–7 years of experience in social media management, content strategy, channel strategy, or related digital communications work. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Proven experience managing large, consumer-facing entertainment, media, or lifestyle brands. 
  • Experience working across multiple brands, accounts, or social identities simultaneously with strong attention to detail and process. 
  • Strong understanding of native social platforms, publishing tools, channel best practices, and current social trends. 
  • Experience writing copy, managing publishing workflows, and executing content plans across multiple channels. 
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with strong hands-on execution. 
  • Experience navigating approval flows and coordinating with a range of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Comfortable with light hands-on content creation and asset editing in support of social execution. 
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment. 
  • Strong understanding of gaming audiences and culture is highly valued; direct gaming experience is strongly preferred. 
  • Portfolio or work samples that demonstrate strong social thinking, platform fluency, and executional range are a plus. 
  • Experience with partnership, licensor/licensee, or multi-stakeholder social workflows is a plus.

Please note that the individual base pay range may vary based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below, this is an hourly rate.

$74.36 - $111.58 USD
