Our Team:

The Identity Platform team builds highly scalable and incredibly performant Java-based authentication and authorization services that enable our customers to access PlayStation as well as other Sony business services. We are the “front door” to the entire ecosystem of gaming, social and entertainment experiences that our customers love.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to own key areas of our platform, define the engineering vision, and build its future state. You should have a strong technical ability, demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire your team to achieve outstanding results in a fast-paced environment. You have previously built and led strong teams of hardworking engineers and you enjoy working with exceptional people. You will be responsible for your services and be able to make tough product decisions that balance contending priorities.

  • Leading, coaching, mentoring and encouraging a dedicated team of software engineers to architect, build, deploy and support best-in-class software services that are always available to provide the best gaming experience for our customers.
  • Lead multiple concurrent projects. Estimate, plan, and slice projects to deliver frequent value to production.
  • Build and develop a high-energy, committed, motivated engineering team focusing on engineering and operational excellence to deliver awesome business results.
  • Collaborate across business units and product teams to develop and execute against the team's vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Use technical expertise and industry trends to influence software development standard methodologies.
  • Handle day-to-day activities of the engineering team using Agile/Scrum methodology.


About You:

  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years in engineering leadership or management roles.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a talent for translating technical information into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to align teams to business goals, drive results, and deliver exceptional technical solutions.
  • A passion for innovation, efficiency, and mentoring/coaching/developing others.
  • Experience & expertise in:
    • Building and scaling microservices architectures.
    • Deploying, operating, and maintaining services in AWS or similar cloud environments.
    • High-performance, scalable and elastic production services.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Object-oriented design concepts with C/C++ and/or Java.
    • Data structures, caching and SQL/NoSQL database technologies.
    • API design and management.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$179,300 - $268,900 USD
