Position Overview
The Federal Tax Director plays an essential role in reviewing and analyzing federal corporate income tax matters as they relate to M&A activity. This important component to the due diligence process will be a direct liaison between key buyer and seller stakeholders. It’s critical that this individual not only have deep knowledge of federal corporate income tax returns, but just as importantly can communicate effectively and work together with a broad spectrum of clients. The salary range for this position is between $135k-$160k, depending on level of experience.
What You'll Do
- Review and analyze federal corporate income tax returns and federal tax refunds on behalf of selling companies.
- Support indemnification claims related to tax and provide analysis regarding tax liabilities alleged by buyers.
- Manage and maintain regular communications via email or phone with clients, outside accounting, tax, and legal experts.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with buyers regarding tax filings. Communicate with key sellers regarding tax matters.
- Draft correspondence to buyers or other parties in response to claims notices.
- Explain regulations, policies, or procedures.
Federal Tax Director Required Qualifications & Skills
- Deep understanding of federal corporate income tax returns.
- Experience with Big Four or mid-tier accounting firms
- Thorough knowledge of NOL’s
- Ability to analyze a complex Federal Corporate Income Tax return, identify risks, suggest edits with the intent of facilitating the M&A process
- Excellent written communication skills
