About the Team

The Onboarding team is ground zero for our mission - it is responsible for getting Stellic into the hands of students and advisors. We own everything required to set up a partner institution with their own Stellic instance - including data, configurations, and branding. We aim to do this as quickly and accurately as possible, and with no additional engineering involvement. Our ability to scale directly correlates with the ability to scale Stellic’s growth and impact.

About the Role

This is an opportunity to shape the future of the student experience in higher ed. As a lead engineer, you’ll be owning parts of the Onboarding team’s delivery end-to-end — working closely with the founders, PMs, and other engineers. You’ll do this at a fast pace, high-growth, mission-driven series A/B startup in enterprise SaaS that is past product/market fit stage and ready to scale.

Given our stage, there is ample opportunity to influence all aspects of the engineering org: including infrastructure, internal tooling, as well as culture and process!

In this key role, you’ll:

  • Design and own the architecture, implementation, and delivery of new functionality for admin tools
  • Build and maintain data pipelines that can ingest GBs (not TBs) of data in minutes
  • Up-level the pace and quality of delivery through technical and operational investments around automation, best practices, and tooling
  • Build and maintain highly available and scalable APIs for real-time data ingestions
  • Own the overall planning, execution and success of projects that directly improve our top-line impact metrics
  • Mentor other software engineers on hands-on work, task planning, and technical excellence
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stellic’s engineering team

You'd be a great fit for this role if you have the following skills and experiences:

  • 6+ years of backend-heavy software engineering experience (ideally Python)
  • You love eliminating engineering dependencies through product and infrastructure automations
  • Experience building internal tooling like backend admin portals
  • Proficiency in building and managing data pipelines for ingestion from legacy systems and ERPs (or equivalents)
  • Building, maintaining, and scaling backend systems and APIs leveraging cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS)
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills that work for engineers and non-engineers, including customers
  • Proven track record in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery
  • Familiarity with authentication systems (ideally SAML-based) is a plus
