Social Editorial Manager
About this Role
Strava is the app for active people. With over 150 million athletes in more than 185 countries, Strava is where connection, motivation, and personal bests thrive. No matter your activity, gear, or goals, we help you find your crew, crush your milestones, and keep moving forward. Start your journey with Strava today.
Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.
As Strava empowers over 150 million athletes globally, we're seeking a Social Editorial Manager to support our goals of increasing brand awareness. You’ll work to craft and manage our Brand narrative and voice across community-centric channels, such as the Strava Club, Reddit, and YouTube. As an expert in writing clear and concise copy, you will articulate the value and benefits of Strava to both current and prospective users. As a member of our Brand Marketing team, you will help infuse our brand into cultural spaces while growing brand awareness with a cross-functional team of Partnerships, Comms, and Product Marketing. You’ll bring a sharp editorial voice, strong visual judgment, and a deep understanding of Strava culture to build brand affinity and spotlight our product.
We follow a flexible hybrid model that generally translates to around half your time on-site in our San Francisco office—roughly three days per week.
What You'll Do:
Write, edit, and publish daily content for Strava’s community channels that is clear, compelling, culturally relevant, and always athlete-first
Develop and maintain a consistent voice and tone that reflects Strava’s brand while centering our athlete community
Maintain an editorial calendar for community channels and plan around product launches, cross-functional campaigns, and seasonal moments
Collaborate with other teams (Brand, Communications, Product Marketing, Support) to write content that informs, educates, and builds trust in our brand
What You'll Bring to the Team:
A strong grasp of community voice and tone. You excel at writing in a style that feels authentic, casual, and engaging. Whether it’s first-person storytelling or speaking directly to the audience, your words sound like they belong in the conversation, not outside of it.
Fresh, channel-native thinking. You bring bold, exciting ideas to the table, not just for the sake of novelty, but with a clear understanding of what works best for each platform. You’re fluent in the nuances of social, editorial, and digital formats, and you tailor your approach accordingly.
Curiosity that drives innovation. You seek to understand emerging channels and cultural shifts, staying one step ahead of where the attention is going. You don’t wait to be told, you explore, test, and adapt.
Comfort in cross-functional collaboration. You’re at ease working with different teams across the organization. You navigate varied perspectives with clarity and empathy, and you know how to get things done without losing sight of the shared goal.
A finger on the pulse of internet culture. You’re not just watching trends, you’re living them. You know which moments are worth jumping into, which ones to let pass, and how to make something feel timely without being try-hard.
A bias toward boldness and experimentation. You’re energized by the opportunity to try something new, go big, and have fun doing it. You embrace failure as part of the creative process and encourage others to do the same.
We’re excited about you because:
Have 4–5 years of experience writing for brands on social, with a proven ability to adapt tone across platforms
You are a highly organized self-starter with excellent writing, editing and communication skills
You have experience writing compelling consumer copy to tight deadlines
You’re knowledgeable of SEO and content optimization strategies that can be applied across a variety of different content streams
Have the ability to analyze data and use relevant insights to inform editorial decision-making
You have experience in community management on platforms such as Reddit, Discord, etc.
Required: Demonstrated familiarity with Strava, either as a user or through close engagement with the athlete community, particularly in endurance sports like cycling or similar disciplines. This experience should inform your understanding of our product, user needs, and community values. Writing samples will also be required along with your application.
