Drive Impact Through Financial Excellence as a Senior Accountant at Submittable!

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll operate as a critical member of our Accounting team, ensuring our growing company's financial health and integrity. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, you’ll be responsible for our day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to financial reporting, technical accounting, and compliance efforts. Your work will directly support our ability to empower social impact professionals around the globe.

How You’ll Make an Impact: Your passion for precision, problem-solving, and financial strategy will drive smarter decision-making, streamline operations, and elevate our accounting processes—ensuring a rock-solid financial foundation for our continued growth and success.

  • Drive Financial Excellence: Partner with the Controller to manage the general ledger and related entries, ensuring accuracy and integrity in our financial data.
  • Month-End Close Duties: Support the Controller in compiling and reviewing month-end closing activities, maintaining adherence to ASC 606 for revenue recognition.
  • Empower Decision-Making: Analyze financial data and craft insightful reports for leaders, stakeholders, and external parties, communicating findings clearly to drive informed decision-making.
  • Optimize Accounting Operations: Perform and coordinate daily accounting tasks—including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and payroll—while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiencies across the company.
  • Mentor and Guide: Review the work of junior accounting staff, offering guidance and recommendations to foster professional growth and development.
  • Champion Compliance: Assist with tax audits, tax returns, and the annual audit process in partnership with external auditors.
  • Strengthen Controls: Assess and improve internal controls, designing new processes to align with our evolving business needs.
  • Be a Trusted Expert: Research and resolve accounting issues, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

About You:
We’re looking for a dynamic accounting professional who combines technical expertise with a passion for contributing to a mission-driven organization.

Experience & Expertise:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
    • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS or fast-paced environment.
    • CPA certification is highly valued but is not required.
    • Proficiency with NetSuite, GAAP, General Ledger, and the month-end/year-end close process.
    • Advanced Excel skills and comfort with Google Sheets.

Leadership & Collaboration:

    • Experience reviewing the work of peers or junior staff. 
    • Excited to contribute to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Problem-Solving Mindset:

    • A proactive approach to identifying process improvements and implementing solutions.

Salary Details: This role's base salary pay range(s) is $92,000-$120,000 USD. This range represents the base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings (OTE) for commissionable roles. At Submittable, salary ranges may include several career levels. Salaries are determined by multiple factors, including location, local market variances, candidate experience and expertise, and internal peer equity, and may vary from the amounts listed above. 

Salary is just one component of Submittable’s total rewards package, which, depending on the position offered, may include additional compensation, such as equity awards and/or commission/bonus.

Position Location: This position will be located in Missoula, MT, or, remote.
