Senior Specialist, Policy & Standards
Thanks for your interest in Success Academy! Running a large, fast-growing, and high-performing network of public charter schools takes a village - families, children, teachers, staff and faculty, advocates, and supporters alike. We are growing fast in New York and expanding to Florida, and we would love to welcome you to our community! We work tirelessly every day to ensure children have access to a fun, rigorous, whole-child education regardless of zip code or economic status. When you join SA, you play a part in giving every student who walks through our doors a fair shot at reaching his or her potential.
We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Policy & Standards to join our Enterprise Operations team. Reporting directly to the Head of External Partner Services, this role is the architect of our external partnership framework. The Senior Specialist will be responsible for codifying how third parties - including Shared Spaces, Food, Transportation, and Nursing - interact with our schools, ensuring that every external system is designed for maximum efficiency and minimum friction for our school leaders, staff, and scholars. The Senior Specialist will ensure that there are standard operating procedures, KPIs, and data collection and evaluation for every vendor to deliver a high-quality, student-centered experience that aligns with our national institutional standards.
The successful candidate will be able to successfully blend systems thinking, rigorous evaluation, and a disruptive mindset. The ideal candidate must evaluate legacy compliance processes and ask, “why do we do it this way” - then build something better.
This role is ideal for a results-driven professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is motivated by the opportunity to innovate the operational foundation for our network of schools across New York City, and ultimately, Florida.
Key Responsibilities
-
Design and document comprehensive policies, standards, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all external partner systems across shared space, food, transportation, and nursing
-
Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the health and effectiveness of external partnerships.
-
Analyze school-level escalations to identify systemic failures or gaps in current standards.
-
Radically overhaul compliance-heavy workstreams that hinder agility.
-
Identify opportunities to automate or streamline third-party interactions to improve overall effectiveness.
-
Challenge and improve legacy vendor workflows, identifying habit-driven inefficiencies and proposing compliant, innovative alternatives that enhance service quality without increasing cost.
-
Partner on regional strategy, providing data-driven insights from the field to inform contract renewals, service-level adjustments, and expansion planning.
-
Drive data accountability through KPI monitoring, using service logs and stakeholder feedback to track vendor ROI and ensure external partners are delivering on their promises to our schools.
Qualifications
-
Experience: 3+ years of experience in operations, policy design, or management consulting. Experience in a high-growth environment is a plus.
-
Systems Thinker: You can zoom out to see the entire ecosystem and zoom in to fix a granular process flaw.
-
Data-Driven: You are comfortable using data to tell a story and hold partners accountable.
-
Disruptive Mindset: You are dissatisfied with the status quo and have a track record of improving “the way things have always been done”.
-
Communication: Exceptional writing skills; you can codify complex procedures into simple, easy-to-follow manuals.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience. This position is not bonus eligible.
