Director, Marketing (Habit Burger & Grill)

Please note, this is a full-time position where individuals will be The Habit Burger Grill employees working onsite at Taco Bell.

The Habit Burger Grill is a burger-centric, fast-casual restaurant concept that specializes in preparing fresh, cooked-to-order chargrilled burgers and handcrafted sandwiches over an open flame. In addition, it features fresh-cut salads and an appealing selection of sides, shakes, and malts. The Habit Burger Grill was named the "best tasting burger in America" in July 2014 in a comprehensive survey conducted by one of America's leading consumer magazines. The first Habit Burger Grill opened in Santa Barbara, California in 1969 and was recently named in Thrillist’s list of “Underrated Burger Chains that Need to be in Every State!” The Habit Burger is now part of Yum Brands (the largest restaurant organization in the world) which operate Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut.

ABOUT THE JOB

An opportunity to lead marketing strategy for the Habit Burger Grill to drive our ambitious brand growth agenda.  Unleash the power of consumer insights and analytics to fuel strategies and develop plans that challenge the status quo and drive short and long term impact by delighting customers. Combine creativity with analytical thinking to deliver breakthrough growth.

An exceptional ability to build relationships through a clear communication style and a partnership mentality. Lead and inspire a high-performing team of two direct reports, supporting their development and encouraging them to nurture ideas and strategies to execution.

The Day-to-Day: 

  • Translate data into insight and insight into action.
  • Spearhead menu strategies that drive revenue and profitability
  • Identify new growth occasions and collaborate with Culinary Innovation to deliver to market.
  • Create retail tactics and collaborate with Marketing Communications and Digital Marketing teams to bring them to life
  • Collaborate with Market Planning and Development to launch Habit Burger Grill in new geographies
  • Inspire and Influence within marketing, cross-functional leadership, and franchise partners
  • Actively coach and develop two high-potential direct reports

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of directly applicable marketing experience required
  • Minimum 4 years of experience leading marketing strategy; demonstration of good strategic and creative sensibilities
  • Growth-orientated, big-picture thinker who can also manage details and complexity.
  • Based in or relocated to Irvine, CA, and the ability to work a hybrid schedule (approximately 2-3 days per week in the office)

STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

  • Ability to resource and gather relevant information to build comprehensive situation analysis
  • Provide a clear framework and development of objectives/strategies/tactics
  • Influence with sound rationale and clear commercial orientation
  • A strong grasp of key business and industry drivers and a track record of capitalizing on identified consumer trends and insights to develop creative/breakthrough business-building strategies, products, and programs
  • Strong intuition, ability to “connect the dots” and deal with ambiguity while possessing clear financial savvy and using fact-based arguments to support proposals/recommendations
  • Ability to prioritize issues and opportunities and allocate resources accordingly
  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior and trends

LEADING/INFLUENCING SKILLS

  • Proven leadership ability with the capability to motivate, inspire, and develop others (both direct and indirect)
  • Ability to provide clear direction and business solutions to maximize individual and broader team performance
  • Strong presence and able to lead by example
  • Able to build and sustain relationships across all functions and through all levels in an organization to ensure seamless integration and flawless execution of business plans
  • Courage to champion ideas and motivate key stakeholders through infectious passion

COMPENSATION

Salary Range: $155,700 to $200,000 annually + bonus eligibility + equity. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.
