Senior Content Producer (E-Learning)

takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Senior Content Producer (E-Learning) to join our team in Cape Town. You will have responsibility for the creation, design and maintenance of communication content targeted at Takealot’s third party merchants.

Purpose of the role: 

  • Creation of relevant communications, online learning content and scalable tools/mediums, to ensure that they are equipped with the knowledge they need to successfully manage their Takealot account.
  • You will report directly to the Product Manager
  • You will collaborate closely with a number of stakeholders, including Product Managers and UX Designers, as well as stakeholders across the business

Your responsibilities include:

To fulfill this responsibility, you need to be able to: 

  • Develop and own a strategy/framework for successful merchant Onboarding, with input from relevant stakeholders – the communication mediums/systems, communication style/tone, frequency, etc. that will be used
  • Ensure the successful implementation of this strategy/framework, by gaining a deep understanding of the commercial merchant experience linked to the relevant content/communication subject matter
  • Ensure we are measuring the effectiveness of our merchant Onboarding strategy via the tracking of relevant metrics
  • Develop content/communications via a number of formats (e.g. email, recorded videos, onsite communication, webinars, presentations, etc.)
  • Conceptualise, create and maintain all merchant training, education & communication content, including, amongst other things, communication/content relevant to: the release/development of new features in the Merchant Portal, mass communications to merchants via channels such as email, sms, etc. and Takealot operational processes and requirements
  • Research and keep the team abreast of competitor/peer trends and best practices with regards to user/customer content/communications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in communications, copywriting, English language or related degree
  • A minimum of 3+ years working in copywriting / content production and/or related digital communications

Skills, knowledge & abilities: 

  • A grounding in communication principles
  • An ability to translate a communication brief into effective copy across multiple touchpoints in a way that resonates with merchants
  • Highly organised and efficient, with an ability to work towards and meet tight deadlines
  • Creative mindset – you must have the ability to work across different media and quickly grasp new communication tools
  • Top of the class English written communication and creative copywriting skills
  • Solutions-oriented - you will need a can-do attitude and high energy
  • Versatile and with the appetite to learn by doing
  • Knowledge and experience of working with email and video communication tools (advantageous)
  • Experience in creating content for tech Product development (advantageous)
