About the Role:

This role is based in London and candidates must have the existing right to work in the UK. Taskrabbit is a remote-first company, with employees working 2 days per week in our dedicated office space in Central London (Soho).

The Localisation team ensures the Taskrabbit experience is fully localised across our markets, making it relevant and accurate for all users in the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. We lead and project manage cross-functional initiatives focused on European growth, collaborating closely with Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and other departments.

We are seeking an experienced localisation specialist to join the team, managing cross-functional globalisation needs with expertise on either the German or British English locale. You will coordinate translation work with our dedicated external agencies, and will also adapt, proofread, edit, translate, or transcreate content for your locale as needed. Ideally, you’ll also contribute creatively to content development, including writing your own copy.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and updating linguistic assets and critical team resources, including glossaries, style guides, process documentation, and multilingual guides. You will also support key stakeholders with localised content, guidance on cultural adaptation, and globalisation best practices across teams and territories.

As part of the Localisation team, you’ll also support cross-functional projects, and play an active role in the growth and development of the Taskrabbit business and communities across all markets.

What you will work on:

  • Contribute to the team’s localisation workflow management, creating and/or vetting requests, with a special focus on either German or British English.
  • Coordinate work with our dedicated translation agencies, and build a relationship with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain reference materials for linguists, to keep a consistent voice in your locale and ensure best practices.
  • Perform Quality Assurance checks as part of our Localisation Quality Programme, assessing the quality of translations provided by our vendors, to ensure they are of the highest standard and they adhere to our linguistic assets.
  • Translate and/or review translations directly on our TMS (Smartling).
  • Collaborate with different teams, such as Product, Marketing, Partnerships and Ops, on the production of content for SEO, blog articles, training materials, and promotional assets.
  • Carry out localisation audits, testing the full user journey in our localised version of the web and app.
  • Project manage cross-functional international initiatives, working with remote teams in different areas and time zones.

What we are looking for:

  • Either German or British English localisation expert.
  • A passion for language, communication, and storytelling.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ localisation experience with a strong background in translation, linguistics, content creation, and cultural adaptation.
  • Excellent communication and organising skills. You are capable of carrying out all duties in a fast-paced environment as part of a remote-first international team.
  • Solid understanding of CAT tools, including familiarity with MT and AI-driven workflows and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and solve problems related to localisation workflows, processes, and content.
  • Experienced project manager, capable of working cross-functionally and delivering on time.
  • A team player—You’ll be joining a small, cohesive team.
  • Experienced working on requests from various functions: Marketing, Product and Engineering, Customer Support, Partnerships, etc.
  • A forensic eye for detail and a strong curiosity about how things work.
  • Experience in QA is an added advantage.
