Lead Data Engineer

Position Overview

TEGNA is looking for a skilled and driven Lead Data Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The Lead Data Engineer is a hands-on builder responsible for

developing, maintaining, and optimizing the core data pipelines and infrastructure of our EDW/Data Lake/BI/AI Solutions. This role focuses on writing high-quality code and

building robust systems to process large-scale consumer and customer data within our Snowflake environment.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain scalable batch and streaming data ingestion
• Build and optimize complex, production-grade ETL/ELT data pipelines using tools like Snowflake SQL, dbt, Airflow, and
• Implement and maintain data models (dimensional, relational) within Snowflake as specified by architectural
• Write efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code in SQL, dbt and Python for data processing and
• Collaborate with the DevOps and platform engineers to ensure data pipelines are reliable, performant, and
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the team's culture of engineering
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data pipelines, performance, and

What you bring

• 10+ years of hands-on data engineering
• Strong proficiency in a programming language such as
• Expert-level SQL skills and experience optimizing complex
• Deep, hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse -
• Proven experience building and orchestrating data pipelines using tools like Airflow, dbt, or
• Experience with AWS Services and Data Stack like Glue, S3 Data lakes

Preferred Qualification

• Snowflake SnowPro Certification
• AWS Certification(s)
