Location and Flexibility
This is a hybrid role. This model requires the ability to work in a hybrid mode from one of our offices in São Paulo (2 times/ week or 8 days/ month) or Porto Alegre (3 times/ week or 12 days/ month). Our WFN culture is designed to foster in-person innovation, collaboration, and connection with team members local and visiting from other global offices.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you’ll be a manager of a cross functional team (e.g. engineers, product, program management, etc) building amazing digital products for our clients, and you’ll help them achieve their personal and professional goals. You’ll also drive the team and our clients to use cutting-edge techniques and processes for software delivery, and use your technical prowess to shape the solutions we create. Success looks like an energized, happy team building high-quality software for eager, engaged client stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Drives technical vision and innovation, proactively championing and integrating new technologies to solve complex challenges across the organization.
- Empowers and coaches multiple engineering teams, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement, including mentoring other engineering leaders.
- Possesses 8+ years of deep professional engineering experience, with a minimum of 4+ years leading and scaling multiple engineering teams or functions.
- Proven success in building and growing high-performing teams, adept at strategic talent development, succession planning, and cultivating leadership within the organization.
- Navigates complex interpersonal dynamics, fostering a culture of trust and psychological safety while adeptly managing difficult conversations for the long-term benefit of all stakeholders.
- Expert in modern software development methodologies (e.g., CI/CD, Agile, DevOps), driving their strategic adoption and continuous refinement across engineering teams.
- Owns the end-to-end delivery of large-scale digital products or platforms, ensuring architectural excellence, scalability, security, and maintainability, and influencing broader technical strategy.
- Translates complex technical, business, and organizational challenges into clear strategies, effectively communicating vision and driving alignment with executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
- You’ve worked in a client services environment (e.g. digital agency)
- Experience conducting interviews and hiring for your team
- Experience consulting with teams on best practices
Bonus Points
- Professional experience as a Project or Product Manager and Scrum Master from a major technology consultancy or agency
- You’ve guided a client to further their use of modern engineering practices or agile software delivery processes
- Certifications such as CSM, CSPO, PMP, SA, SPC, etc.
