Location and Flexibility

This role can be fully remote for candidates based in Brazil, due to team distribution and occasional in-person opportunities. If you are based in São Paulo or Porto Alegre, you are welcome to work from one of our offices on a flexible schedule.

The Opportunity

TELUS Digital is seeking a proficient AI Engineer passionate about merging AI and software into tangible, effective solutions within our long-term client projects. As an AI Engineer, you will be instrumental in applying and integrating generative AI models to enhance digital products, making AI accessible and valuable in a real-world context..

Responsibilities 

  • Integrate Generative AI models, including LLMs, with external APIs, tools, and databases using secure and efficient orchestration patterns.
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI workflows and Agentic AI solutions, enabling the seamless orchestration of intelligent agents using autonomous and/or human-in-the-loop paradigms.
  • Build multi-agent systems leveraging emerging frameworks and protocols like Model Context Protocol (MCP), ensuring interoperability, performance, and scalability.
  • Apply advanced NLP techniques and uma compreensão profunda de dados textuais para extrair insights e permitir comportamentos contextuais em IA.

  • Leverage GCP services, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Looker Studio, to build and operationalize AI and data workflows in a scalable cloud-native environment.
  • Develop robust evaluation frameworks and metrics (e.g., RAG, RL, human feedback loops) to assess agent autonomy, performance, and safety while ensuring ethical, secure, and compliant AI delivery.
  • Apply observability, monitoring, and MLOps best practices to ensure continuous model performance, reliability, and pipeline optimization.
  • Communicate complex AI systems and decisions to technical and non-technical audiences, using storytelling and visualization to create shared understanding and alignment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing and deploying AI architectures, with deep expertise in Generative AI, NLP, LLMs, and orchestration patterns.
  • Solid understanding of text data, natural language processing, and related ML concepts, including prompt engineering and context optimization.
  • Experience with modern Agentic AI solutions and frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, ADK, CrewAI, OpenAI SDK).
  • Hands-on expertise in cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and tools like Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Looker / Looker Studio.
  • Proficiency in working with data, including SQL and data integration approaches for AI-driven applications.
  • Skilled in embedding techniques and vector databases, and experienced in chunking and optimization strategies for LLM performance.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, or similar).
  • Strong experience in API development and integration, especially in AI-driven services and microservices architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess AI performance using frameworks like RAGAS, LangSmith, DeepEval, and OpenAI Eval.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify and present complex AI systems and outcomes to varied audiences.

Bonus Points

  • Experience building intelligent AI agents or autonomous task-driven systems.
  • Background in predictive modeling or hybrid AI systems combining generative and predictive components.
  • Hands-on experience deploying AI solutions using Kubernetes or container orchestration tools for scalability and reliability.
  • Experience in projects requiring high data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
