Fitness Instructor

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for the role of Fitness Instructor! This position is essential to Facilitate programs within fitness/wellness amenity spaces and across the continuum of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Skilled Nursing, including fitness programs, personal training, and signature Continuwell wellness programs.

This is a part-time, hourly position based on-site at The Mather in Evanston, IL. Weekend and holiday availability is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops, promotes, and delivers fitness and wellness programs across the continuum: as assigned by Fitness & Spa Wellness Manager, utilizing best practices for communication, program format, environmental set-up, technology, virtual and in-person delivery, etc. driven by Mather brand standards for resident engagement and wellness.
  • Provide exercise program instruction and
  • Teach group exercise classes as needed, including but not limited to land-based and water-based classes for Independent Living residents.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new and innovative wellness
  • Conduct wellness and health related education
  • Develop exercise prescriptions for GET FIT
  • Conduct health history screening of GET FIT
  • Conduct wellness evaluations utilizing Mather wellness resources or Mather Institute
  • Performs day-do-day operational tasks in the fitness center: including following all safety/cleanliness/amenity space protocols, providing an engaging and welcoming wellness environment, monitoring and maintaining group exercise studio(s), pool(s), indoor/outdoor wellness spaces, and other communal areas. Maintains documentation as assigned.
  • Identifies ways to engage with residents to seek input and feedforward in regard to fitness and wellness programs and opportunities. Incorporates resident strengths and interests into program development.
  • Contributes ideas to support program development across the continuum as well as supporting effective community communication.
  • Identifies areas for improvement, proposes possible solutions, and participates in data collection and process changes as part of the Quality Assurance Process Improvement process.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in kinesiology, fitness, health or related field and/or a nationally recognized group fitness or personal training certification (such as NASM, ACE, ISSA, ACSM, etc.)
  • Experience working with older
  • Experience in health/wellness promotion
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong 1:1 and group facilitation
  • Self-initiator requiring minimum
  • Ability to use or learn a variety of tech-based services and platforms; e. Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, YouTube, resident facing portals, and A/V set-ups.
  • Aqua fitness certification (such as AEA) or ability to obtain within 6 months of

Preferred:

  • ACSM
  • Experience working with older adults with diverse physical and/or cognitive
  • Experience and skills related to Health and Wellness, Lifelong Learning, and/or Arts and Culture.

The hourly base wage range is a good faith estimate of the range Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual hourly base wage paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, geographic location and market changes. The position is also eligible to participate in Mather benefit plans and Employee Appreciation Fund. 

Hourly Pay Range

$26 - $30 USD

The salary range is a good faith estimate of the range Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual hourly base wage paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, geographic location and market changes. The position is also eligible to participate in Mather benefit plans and Employee Appreciation Fund. 

Salary Pay Range

$26 - $30 USD
