As a Vita Coco Chemist you will perform all tasks associated with the analytical lab operations, including chemical analysis, equipment calibration/maintenance, OOS investigation, method validation and other related tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform chemical and physical analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, stability samples, and non-routine samples.
  • Conduct sensory sessions and finished product packaging integrity checks.
  • Manage calibration, maintenance and qualification of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist in Vita Coco R&D samples and finished product shelf-life performance and homogeneity study.
  • Responsible for ISO 17025 accreditation processes.
  • Responsible for procurement and monitoring of lab inventory, liaising with vendors for equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Draft, review and maintain operating procedures for laboratory equipment and processes.
  • Render scientific assistance to Vita Coco partners across the globe.
  • Responsible for method validation and verification.
  • Assist in driving continuous improvement activities in the laboratory. Lead in CI projects such as sourcing new test equipment.
  • Coordinate/participate in 6S activities for the analytical lab.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards & observe safety requirements and Good Laboratory practices in the laboratory.
  • Assist in training new hires and interns in accordance with GMP/GLP requirements, laboratory procedures, and safety standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to Associate Chemists and interns while ensuring compliance with approved methods.
  • Participate in regulated laboratory projects, including equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), method implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives in compliance with GMP/GLP standards.
  • Assist in the development, optimization, and validation of newly identified tests following approved protocols.
  • Review analytical data, identify unusual or out-of-specification results, and promptly escalate findings to the Senior Chemist in accordance with deviation and investigation procedures.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an ISO/IEC 17025–accredited laboratory (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a QC/testing laboratory, preferably within the food and beverage industry.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instruments such as ICP (ICP-OES/ICP-MS), HPLC, and GC; experience with routine operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance is preferred.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and business analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Python).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.

 

Expectations:

  • Chemistry knowledge: To have a thorough understanding of chemistry procedures and principles, e.g. safe use and disposal of chemicals.
  • Analytical skills: Be able to perform chemical analysis.
  • Detailed-oriented: Maintains accurate records of data and processes.
  • Computer skills: Proficient in MS Excel, Word for data entries, reports and data trending.
  • Teamwork: To be able to work well with the team and collaborate with other teams.
  • Problem solving skills: Able to analyze data, identify issues, troubleshooting.
  • Good conduct/attitude: Adhere to company policies and behave professionally.
  • This role required 80% hands-on instrumentations testing, 15% admin, 5% projects.
