Director, Enterprise Architecture & Technology Governance

Durham, NC

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Director, Enterprise Architecture & Technology Governance which is the enterprise design authority responsible for defining and governing technology architecture standards across infrastructure, networking, security, applications, integration, data/platform services, and enterprise systems. This role establishes the architectural principles, reference patterns, review processes, and decision governance needed to ensure technology investments are secure, resilient, scalable, supportable, and aligned with business strategy.

This leader owns the enterprise architecture operating model, including the Architecture Review Board (ARB), architecture standards, exception management, and design decision governance. The role evaluates current-state architecture, defines target-state roadmaps, and serves as the final escalation point for cross-domain design decisions and technical tradeoffs.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in hybrid enterprise environments spanning network architecture, Zero Trust design, application/platform architecture, ERP/integration landscapes, and modern engineering guardrails for cloud and AI-enabled development. Experience with OCI is preferred, but deep expertise in one specific cloud platform is not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Governance
  • Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategy, principles, standards, and reference architectures. Establish and operate the architecture governance model, including ARB processes, decision frameworks, and exception management. Ensure consistent application of standards across all major initiatives.
  • Architecture Review, Design Authority & Decision Governance
  • Lead architecture review processes across infrastructure, network, security, application, and platform domains. Act as the final escalation point for complex design decisions, validating alignment with enterprise standards, resilience, security, and long-term technical integrity.
  • Network, Security & Zero Trust Architecture Standards
  • Define and govern enterprise standards for networking, segmentation, hybrid connectivity, and Zero Trust architecture. Ensure consistent application of identity-centric access models, least-privilege connectivity, and secure access patterns across all environments.
  • Application, Integration & Platform Architecture Oversight
  • Establish and enforce standards for application architecture, integration patterns, platform services, and ERP environments. Guide modernization approaches, secure development practices, and architecture patterns that support scalability and maintainability.
  • Executive Advisory & Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to IT and business leadership, communicating architectural direction, risks, and tradeoffs. Partner across infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, and data teams to align execution with enterprise architecture standards and strategic objectives.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience, with 15 + years of leadership experience in enterprise‑level architecture.

Enterprise Architecture Leadership & Governance

  • Proven ability to define and enforce enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and target-state roadmaps across infrastructure, networking, security, applications, integration, and enterprise platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience operating and governing formal architecture processes, including Architecture Review Boards (ARB), technical design reviews, and architecture decision management.
  • Ability to evaluate current-state architecture, identify inconsistencies and technical debt, and define pragmatic modernization strategies aligned to business outcomes.

Cross-Domain Architecture Expertise

  • Deep, practical understanding of enterprise IT ecosystems, including hybrid infrastructure, cloud platforms, networking, security architecture, application platforms, ERP environments, and integration patterns.
  • Experience defining standards across multiple domains and ensuring alignment between infrastructure, security, and application architecture decisions.
  • Strong ability to operate at both enterprise and solution levels, ensuring consistency while enabling delivery teams.

Network & Zero Trust Architecture

  • Strong experience defining enterprise networking principles, segmentation strategies, and connectivity models across hybrid environments.
  • Expertise in Zero Trust concepts including identity-centric access, least-privilege enforcement, segmentation, continuous authentication, and secure remote/third-party access.
  • Ability to translate security and networking strategy into enforceable architecture standards and design patterns.

Application, Integration & Modern Engineering Architecture

  • Experience defining enterprise standards for application architecture, platform services, integration patterns, and secure software development practices.
  • Working knowledge of modern development approaches including APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, CI/CD, and platform engineering.
  • Ability to define guardrails for AI-enabled application development, data access patterns, and secure integration of emerging technologies.

Architecture Decision Authority & Executive Influence

  • Demonstrated ability to act as final architectural authority for cross-domain design decisions, including risk tradeoffs and standards exceptions.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical decisions into clear business impacts and recommendations.
  • Ability to influence outcomes across a matrixed organization without direct operational control.

Preferred Technical Experience:

  • Experience working in environments leveraging Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle enterprise platforms, or comparable large-scale enterprise ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-scale data platforms, analytics environments, and AI/ML solution architectures.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
