Guadalajara Office

Position Summary

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, testing, and support of modern retail platforms and solutions.

In this role, you will partner with senior engineers, architects, product teams, and technical leaders to deliver high-quality software that meets client and business objectives. You will participate in both Discovery and Delivery activities within a Dual-Track Agile environment, helping validate concepts, implement features, and deliver production-ready software.

The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer who actively develops code, embraces AI-assisted development practices, and takes ownership of assigned solutions from implementation through production support. You are expected to work independently on moderately complex features, identify and resolve technical issues, contribute ideas for continuous improvement, and collaborate effectively across engineering teams.

This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, cloud-native development experience, a growth mindset, and a commitment to building quality software while continuously expanding technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and support software solutions for retail and enterprise platforms.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, test generation, documentation, and analysis activities.
  • Participate in discovery activities by evaluating requirements, building proof of concepts, and providing technical feedback on implementation approaches.
  • Implement user stories, technical tasks, integrations, APIs, and platform enhancements within Agile delivery teams.
  • Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to understand and apply architectural patterns, engineering standards, and non-functional requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, test artifacts, and deployment guidance as needed.
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve solution quality and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot software defects, production issues, and operational concerns, working with team members to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and observability practices.
  • Support production deployments, post-release validation, and operational readiness activities.
  • Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and professional services teams to deliver client value.
  • Continuously improve technical skills, development practices, and understanding of retail platform technologies.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience developing software using modern programming languages such as Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Experience building and supporting cloud-native applications, APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or similar cloud platforms.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, SQL databases, and modern application integration patterns.
  • Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned deliverables while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Java/Spring Boot and modern front-end frameworks such as React or Vue.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
  • Experience working in Agile or Dual-Track Agile delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies.
  • Experience supporting retail, POS, payments, or commerce platforms.
  • Understanding of software quality practices, observability, and operational support.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled engineering workflows and modern software delivery practices.

Success in This Role

A successful Software Engineer:

  • Delivers production-quality code with minimal supervision.
  • Owns assigned features from development through deployment.
  • Uses AI-enabled tooling responsibly to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Contributes to technical discussions and solution design.
  • Proactively identifies issues, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Builds strong partnerships with teammates and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates continuous growth toward senior engineering responsibilities.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
