Data Science Product Manager

Remote

Trellis is a profitable, fast-growing Series A startup backed by top investors like General Catalyst, QED, NYCA, and Amex Ventures.

Our mission: make shopping for home and auto insurance faster, smarter, and easier for everyday Americans. Powered by ML and GenAI, we help people find better insurance — saving them time, money, and stress.

We’re fully remote, built for speed, and led by a third-time fintech founder with a track record of building public companies.

If you move fast, take ownership, and care about your craft, you’ll thrive here.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Science Product Manager to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of predictive models that are core to the Trellis user experience. From deciding which ad to show to determining whether to route a user to our agency, your work will shape how users navigate our product, and how well we serve them.

This is a highly cross-functional role where you’ll collaborate closely with engineering and business stakeholders to turn messy, real-world data into clear insights and working models. You’ll need to balance technical depth with business acumen and thrive in a high-ownership, fast-paced environment.

This is a fully remote position, based in the US or Canada, and will report directly into Keith Schreer, VP of Data

What You'll Do:

  • Own our portfolio of predictive models from end to end: ideation, implementation, productionization, monitoring, and iteration
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the accuracy and business impact of existing models
  • Identify and develop new models that drive better user outcomes and business results
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to embed models into our systems and decision-making flows
  • Design and implement improvements to our data science processes and infrastructure
  • Help ensure model output is interpretable, actionable, and aligned with our KPIs
  • Answer this question in the open text box below: Would you rather always have perfectly clean data, but only 10 rows or 1 billion messy, unlabeled and incomplete records?

Who You Are:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in Data Science roles implementing predictive models
  • Strong understanding of recommendation algorithms and modeling techniques
  • Proven track record of owning production data science models end to end, from discovering opportunities to implementing models to productionalization and monitoring.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Experience with Looker/LookML or other data visualization tools is a plus
  • Background in Fintech, Insurtech, or insurance is a plus

Trellis is a fantastic place to work

Join a talented, passionate team:

  • Flat, collaborative, transparent culture; get in at the ground floor and be a true business partner

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
