Who we are:

Tripadvisor is recruiting an attorney to serve as Senior Corporate Counsel and lead on a wide variety of technology transactions and commercial deals, with a focus on (i) artificial intelligence (AI), both revenue-generating and internal efficiency-focused, (ii) data transactions, usually in the licensing space, (iii) business development opportunities, and (iv) complex procurement deals. This position will support and provide transactional and negotiation advice to Tripadvisor’s various teams, including business development and sales.  

This position will work closely with, and report directly to, the General Counsel for the Tripadvisor brand. The position seeks qualified candidates who are interested in working in a hybrid role splitting time between working remotely and an in-office presence at either Tripadvisor’s global HQ in Needham, Massachusetts, or one of its offices in London or Oxford, UK.  Fully remote candidates will also be considered.  Candidates throughout the United States and United Kingdom are encouraged to apply given Tripadvisor's commitment to hybrid work.

 What You’ll Do:

  • Providing legal support for a variety of Tripadvisor’s global business teams, including Business Development, Partnerships, Sales, Business-to-Business Solutions, Analytics & Research, Product, and others
  • Providing legal advice and support on a wide variety of legal topics related to AI, data licensing, data analysis, online campaigns, procurement, marketing materials and programs
  • Embedding yourself within Tripadvisor’s in-house data, sales and procurement teams, in order to counsel on all aspects of programs/campaigns and execution thereof
  • Drafting and negotiating various types of commercial agreements, with a focus on revenue-generating deals
  • Providing strategic legal and business advice to help develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to legal issues/risks  
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations 
  • Working closely with other lawyers in the Legal Department, and engaging and managing outside counsel.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience, preferably with both law firm and in-house corporate experience, with significant experience in handling technology transactions, partnership or business development agreements, data deals, commercial deals, procurement and analytics-related matters
  • Current state bar membership sufficient to enable you to practice in Massachusetts or another state, or admission as a solicitor in England and Wales (or equivalent common law jurisdiction) with a current practicing certificate 
  • Strong work ethic and ability to balance, prioritize, and follow through on numerous agreements and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking
  • Self-starter and able to work well independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second European language (Spanish, French, Italian, or German) is a plus, but not required
