What you will do
Viator's Engineering Platform Team is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer II. As a key contributor to our platform, you'll design self-service capabilities, automate complex tasks and establish patterns that scale across hundreds of engineers.
You'll partner with product engineering teams to discover their needs, co-design appropriate solutions and ensure they have the tools, processes and environments needed to maximise their productivity without sacrificing reliability or security. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and systems engineering, requiring technical depth and the ability to think like a product builder.What you will need
- 2+ years experience working as a software or systems engineer, or in a similar role
- Hands-on experience with AWS platform
- Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure automation
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Go) or systems programming languages (Java, C++)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to write clear documentation and collaborate effectively with product engineering teams
- Ability to participate in technical discussions and contribute thoughtful perspectives to architectural decisions
- Experience working with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new technologies
Preferred experience
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (preferred Terraform)
- Hands-on experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Background working with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog)
- Experience with security best practices and tooling
- Familiarity with GitOps practices (Argo CD)
- Open-source project contributions
