Research Associate II, Tech Transfer
Research Associate II (Onsite in Wilsonville, OR)
We are looking for an outstanding Research Associate II to join our Tech Transfer Team in Wilsonville, near Portland, Oregon. This position will support development of current and future processes at Twist ranging from gene assembly to the creation of NGS libraries to protein expression. A successful candidate will have excellent molecular biology knowledge, technical capabilities, and wet lab skill sets. We expect that you can work independently and communicate effectively across many groups at Twist and be comfortable with shifting priorities.
Your Role in the Company:
- Design, perform, and electronically document molecular biology experiments to develop and troubleshoot processes independently
- Work with many cross functional teams at Twist to transfer new processes and improve protocols for manufacturing
- Write SOPs and support training documents for manufacturing operators
- Works with a variety of different automated equipment to perform experiments
- Collect data, analyze results, and provide data summaries to communicate effectively across teams
- Utilize different LIMs system to generate, obtain, and analyze data
- Daily completion of assigned tasks to keep work on track
- Maintain thorough and organized experimental records
- Support day-to-day operations and troubleshooting for manufacturing
You will have:
- B.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a closely-related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant industry or research experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a closely-related field.
- Must have a strong background in molecular biology techniques including purification (DNA and protein), DNA quantification, PCR, enzymatic and cell based assays, and molecular cloning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Respectful and open to others’ views; contributes to building a positive team spirit.
- Proficient in writing and communicating in English. Able to present data effectively.
- Able to prepare documents including data summaries, technical and analytical reports.
- Comfortable working in a LEAN manufacturing / controlled laboratory environment.
- Self-motivated and passionate about delivering world-class DNA-based products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with lab automation
- Experience with NGS library preparation and analysis
- Experience with SQL and/or JSON
- Experience using LIMS
- Experience working with mammalian culture is highly desirable
