Overview of Opportunity
Two Six Technologies is seeking a Senior Penetration Tester to join our growing Embedded & Cybersecurity team. In this role, you will lead and execute advanced penetration tests targeting a wide range of devices and systems, including networking equipment, embedded platforms, and critical infrastructure components. You’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of security researchers, exploit developers, and reverse engineers to uncover and communicate real-world vulnerabilities in complex environments.
What you will do:
- Conduct advanced penetration testing and red team engagements targeting embedded systems, networking hardware, and proprietary platforms.
- Identify, exploit, and document vulnerabilities across device firmware, communication protocols, and application layers.
- Analyze and reverse engineer systems with limited or no documentation to uncover potential security issues.
- Collaborate with hardware specialists, reverse engineers, and other researchers to develop comprehensive assessment strategies.
- Develop custom tooling, proofs-of-concept, and automation frameworks to support defensive security operations.
- Communicate through regular updates and written reports technical findings and risk assessments to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to team effectiveness by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and improving internal testing methodologies.
What you will need (Basic Qualifications):
- Active Top Secret Clearance, willing to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience in offensive security and hardware/network exploitation).
- 3+ years of experience performing penetration testing or red team operations, particularly in embedded systems or networking environments.
- Familiarity with common embedded platforms, firmware extraction, and hardware debugging tools.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Go, or Rust.
- Hands-on experience with network protocol analysis (e.g., Wireshark, Scapy) and intercepting proxies for communication introspection.
- Deep understanding of common vulnerability classes in hardware, firmware, and networked applications.
- Comfort working in *nix or Windows environments, including fluency with command-line tools and scripting.
Nice to have (Preferred):
- Familiarity with JTAG, UART, SPI, and other low-level interfaces for device analysis.
- Background in reverse engineering binary applications or firmware.
- Experience with mobile telecommunications systems or evaluating critical infrastructure components.
- Contributions to open-source security tools or published research in technical security domains.
Security Clearance:
- Active Top Secret Clearance willing to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.
Salary Range
$119,646 - $179,469 USD
