Two Six is growing and we are looking for a Lead Account - Tax & Audit to join our team.  You will perform highly complex accounting tasks providing specialized analyses in various accounting functions such as Tax, Audit, Policy writing, and G/L Accounting. This is an individual contributor role.

As the Lead Accountant you will have experience working in a corporate accounting department and/or CPA firm and experience in supporting, or being a liaison with an outside CPA firm, with audits and tax filings. 

This is a hybrid work position working from our new Herndon, VA office 2-3 days a week.

What you will do:

Tax and Audit:

  • Maintain Tax filing schedule for all tax filings including corporate income, BPOL, Sales & Use, and foreign tax filings
  • Liaison with public tax and audit firms
  • Manage, communicate and track all audit requests and questions
  • Research and respond to tax notices from state and federal government agencies
  • Research requirements and assist with setup of tax accounts in new jurisdictions

Audit and statutory support:

  • Prepare supporting schedules for financial reviews
  • Support annual financial audit
  • Work with external CPAs on annual tax returns and audits

General Ledger /month-end close process, which includes:

  • Prepare Journal Entries and accruals
  • Review monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Primary areas of focus are fixed assets, lease accounting, R&D capitalization, tax, and payroll account reconciliations

Accounting Policies & Procedure Documents:

  • Assist in developing accounting policy and procedures and formatting documents as requested by accounting managers
  • Assist in presentations, training materials and/or other document preparation as requested by accounting managers

Fixed Assets:

  • Setup purchases of new fixed assets in accounting system
  • Ensure fixed assets are tagged to the correct location and asset type
  • Work with the facilities team to maintain accurate accounting of the lease portfolio

R&D Capitalization:

  • Enter R&D capitalization monthly
  • Ensure R&D costs are capitalized in accordance with company policies and US GAAP
  • Assist with R&D related JIRA tickets

What you will need:

  • 5+ years’ of experience in Accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Solid experience and understanding of corporate federal, state tax, local and sales tax requirements
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • 5+ years working knowledge of accounting software
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to research new topics

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.

$100,000 - $145,000 USD
