Senior Accountant
About the Role
The position of Senior Accountant I involves preparing journal entries for various revenue related accounts, performing accounting research, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, performing contract review analysis, and assisting with audits & other ad-hoc projects.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Prepare monthly revenue and other related journal entries in accordance with ASC 606
- Analyze and Review customer contracts for proper accounting and documentation under ASC 606
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure accounts are reconciled with timely resolution of reconciling items
- Communicate and work with responsible parties to resolve reconciling items
- Assist business partners including, but not limited to, Sales, Operations, and Finance
- Participate in internal and external audit activities as assigned
- Adhere to accounting policies and procedures and actively seek out opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
- Other responsibilities include but not limited to participate in special projects, system enhancements, or ad hoc analysis as assigned
- Analyze and Review NROR (Net Revenue Over Recognition) fluctuations and inquiries to ensure accurate revenue recognition and compliance
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
- 2 + years of accounting experience with a strong focus on account reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
- Proven experience researching, analyzing, and responding to internal and external audit inquiries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of related work experience in a financial support capacity with general ledger experience or public accounting experience
- Previous experience completing journal entries and reconciliations
- Previous experience with variance analysis and research
- Prior experience with ASC 606
- Experience with major ERP system required (Oracle, SAP, etc.)
- Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions and with external users of financial information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and Access capabilities are preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
