Regional Security Manager – Mexico

Location: Mexico City, Mexico

What You'll Do

Serve as Uber Freight's primary security representative in Mexico, supporting employee safety, intelligence gathering, crisis management, investigations, and operational risk mitigation across the country.

  • Serve as the company's primary in-country security resource, providing strategic security guidance to business leaders regarding employee safety, transportation risks, crisis response, and emerging security threats throughout Mexico.
  • Monitor and assess security developments throughout Mexico, including criminal activity, cargo theft trends, road security conditions, civil unrest, and other emerging threats affecting transportation networks, employees, customers, and business operations.
  • Develop and distribute actionable intelligence products, threat assessments, travel advisories, and security alerts to support business operations and employee protection.
  • Maintain awareness of organized criminal activity, cargo theft trends, transportation disruptions, and regional security developments that may impact employee safety, customer operations, or freight movement throughout Mexico.
  • Lead and support complex investigations involving cargo theft, freight fraud, employee misconduct, organized criminal activity, workplace incidents, and other threats impacting employees, customers, carriers, and business operations.
  • Serve as Uber Freight's liaison with law enforcement, government agencies, industry partners, and other external stakeholders to support investigations, employee safety initiatives, and security-related incidents.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with federal, state, and local security stakeholders, including law enforcement, prosecutors, emergency management officials, and industry security organizations throughout Mexico.
  • Lead Uber Freight's security awareness and employee preparedness program throughout Mexico, developing and delivering training on personal security, travel safety, crisis response, workplace violence prevention, kidnapping awareness, incident reporting, and emergency procedures for approximately 1,200 employees through both virtual and in-person platforms.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve security policies, crisis response procedures, employee guidance, and training materials to ensure employees are prepared to respond appropriately to security incidents and emerging threats.
  • Support crisis management activities involving robberies, kidnappings, extortion, civil unrest, workplace violence, natural disasters, and other security-related incidents affecting employees or operations.
  • Manage investigations and incident reviews from initial assessment through resolution, ensuring findings, recommendations, and risk mitigation strategies are appropriately documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide security guidance and support to Facilities and Workplace Operations teams regarding physical security risks, emergency preparedness, workplace violence prevention, incident response, and other security-related matters affecting Uber Freight locations throughout Mexico.
  • Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives and global security standards.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Human Resources, Compliance, Operations, Customer Success, Carrier Management, and executive leadership to address security risks and support business continuity efforts.
  • Identify innovative methods to strengthen Uber Freight's security posture and reduce operational risk across Mexico.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in International Relations, Security Studies, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Public Administration, Intelligence Studies, Risk Management, International Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in corporate security, investigations, intelligence, law enforcement, military, diplomatic security, risk management, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience operating within Mexico, with a demonstrated understanding of the country's security environment, governmental structure, and regional security risks.
  • Significant experience leading complex investigations involving criminal activity, cargo theft, fraud, employee misconduct, corruption, workplace incidents, or other high-risk matters.
  • Demonstrated understanding of U.S.-Mexico security, law enforcement, political, and economic environments and their impact on transportation, supply chain, and business operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training programs for diverse employee populations through both in-person and virtual platforms.
  • Experience preparing investigative reports, intelligence products, threat assessments, executive briefings, and strategic security recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining professional relationships with senior government, law enforcement, prosecutorial, and private-sector stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to travel throughout Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting transportation, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, or technology organizations.
  • Experience producing intelligence assessments, threat reports, travel advisories, and executive-level security briefings.
  • Established professional relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement, prosecutorial, and security stakeholders throughout Mexico.
  • Experience managing crisis response, emergency preparedness, and business continuity programs.
  • Experience supporting multinational organizations operating throughout Mexico.
  • Federal law enforcement, military intelligence, diplomatic security, multinational corporate security, or U.S. government-related security experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive matters in complex environments.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Senior Security Manager, Investigations, and serves as Uber Freight's senior in-country security representative for Mexico. The role works closely with cross-functional business leaders to protect employees, support operations, mitigate risk, and strengthen Uber Freight's security posture throughout the country.
