National OBL Nurse Manager

Reporting to the Senior Director of Clinical Services, the Clinical Services Manager- Office-Based Labs is responsible for the development and implementation of clinical education programs and regulatory readiness initiatives, and, in collaboration with operational leaders, the standardization of workflows, supplies, and equipment across all OBL locations.

This position will cover the OBL locations including Houston, Phoenix and Florida and must live within one of those markets. Travel requirement is up to 60% of the time.

Clinical Training

  • Develop, implement and oversee initial and ongoing education and training of Allied Heath team members (Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Scrub Technologist, Radiology Technologists and Clinical Technologists) working in a Vascular Center that includes an Office-based Lab.
  • Support education and training for clinical team members involved in senior living rounding, including APPs, Clinical Techs and Sonographers.
  • Ability to use a variety of instructional methods and media to deliver education and training including but not limited to, training manuals, training checklists, flowcharts, job aids, newsletters, videos and content development in the Learning Management System and UVVC Intranet.
  • Develop “just-in-time training” based on needs assessment, new products or technology, event reports, patient satisfaction results, employee surveys and annual competencies.
  • Serve as a role model for Lead RNs and other Clinical Leads.

Safety, Risk & Compliance

  • Maintain readiness for medical emergencies (e.g., deeper then intended sedation, vasovagal episodes, allergic reactions, respiratory compromise) including crash cart checks and emergency drills.
  • Maintain awareness of current guidance from OSHA, CDC and accreditation bodies to inform safe clinical practices and align internal protocols with national standards
  • Partner with Operational leaders, Clinical Risk & Safety Manager and Quality Manager to proactively identify clinical risks, implement mitigation strategies, and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Lead or support the timely entry of patient safety events, near misses, and adverse incidents into the Event Reporting System; participate in event
  • Reviews, root cause analyses, and resolution strategies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, clinical support staff, coders, and authorization teams to align diagnostic and procedural documentation with medical necessity criteria, coding requirements

State Survey and Accreditation Readiness

  • Be knowledgeable in state and federal regulations and laws impacting Allied Health team members scope of practice.
  • Lead clinical preparation efforts for state licensing surveys and accreditation site visits in coordination with Lead RNs, other Clinical Leads and Facility Administrators.
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with state-specific regulatory requirements and maintain survey readiness across all OBL sites.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement and collaborate with clinical and operational leadership on implementation of Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.

Clinical Initiatives and Collaboration

  • Develop, implement and/or oversee rollout of new clinical procedures, processes, workflows and technologies across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals.
  • Standardize clinical processes and workflows in collaboration with field operational leadership.

Collaboration

  • Facilitate ongoing dialogue with OBL physicians and operational leadership to identify opportunities for improving interdisciplinary coordination within the OBL setting.
  • Collaborate closely with Medical Directors and service line physician experts to review and refine protocols, support new service line initiatives, and ensure education content reflects current procedural techniques and safety expectations.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team on procedural supply needs, coordinate new product trials, and support standardization of vascular supplies and equipment across OBL locations.
  • Supports training of Clinical Intake team members on key clinical flags, escalation criteria, and care coordination workflows that affect procedural readiness and safety.
  • Chair the OBL Lead RN Committee
  • Serve on other committees or work groups, as directed.

Qualifications 

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current state or multi-state licensure.
  • At least 5 years of recent clinical experience in outpatient procedural settings (i.e., IR, Cath Lab, Vascular Lab, OBL, ASC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider required.
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Prior educator/training experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience a plus.
  • Multi-state and/or multi-site experience a plus.
  • A deep understanding of clinical processes and healthcare environments.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and EHR systems.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team structure.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement when making decisions.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others in a team environment, both virtually and in-person.
  • Dependable; able to meet reliable attendance and punctuality standards for the role.
  • Must be able and willing to travel locally and Nationally on a regular basis.
