Senior Manager, Marketplace Analytics

Upwork’s Analytics & Data Science Team is looking for a strategic and people-first analytics leader to join as our Senior Manager of Marketplace Analytics. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead a team of analysts and collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners to influence the evolution of our marketplace. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping growth strategies for emerging business areas, mobile experiences, and communication tools that serve our global user base. Responsibilities

Lead a team of 4–5 analysts, ensuring work is well-aligned across product pods and Analytics & Data Science priorities. Drive impact by focusing on high-leverage, high-quality projects.

Partner with product leadership to uncover and deliver insights on new and existing product initiatives, directly influencing strategy for mobile, messaging, and emerging business teams.

Coach and develop junior and senior analysts through actionable feedback, structured mentorship, and growth-aligned goal setting.

Translate complex data into clear narratives and recommendations, enabling strategic decisions across product and business domains.

Drive analytics process excellence by identifying opportunities for new tools, workflows, and best practices that increase team effectiveness.

Collaborate with economists and data scientists to address nuanced questions about marketplace health and user behaviors.

Champion a data-informed culture, modeling curiosity, critical thinking, and an inclusive, experimental mindset.
What it takes to catch our eye

Proven experience managing and developing high-performing analytics teams in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.

Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, including data extraction, transformation, and visualization workflows. Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and statistical methodologies is required.

Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end analytics projects—from problem framing and hypothesis development to data analysis, modeling, and storytelling.

Experience navigating and driving impact within a two-sided marketplace or similar complex product ecosystem.

The annual base salary range for this position is displayed below. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.

$158,000 - $210,000 USD
