Staff Electrical Engineer
About Us
Valo Health is a technology company that is integrating human-centric data and AI-powered technology to accelerate the creation of life-changing drugs for more patients faster. Valo was created with the belief that the drug discovery and development process can and should be faster and less expensive, with a much higher probability of success. We are using models early to fail less often, executing clinical trials to add valuation to the company, and generating fit-for-purpose data to feed back into Valo’s Opal Computational Platform™ as we reinvent drug discovery and development from the ground up. Disease doesn’t wait, so neither can we.
We are a multi-disciplinary team of experts in science, technology, and pharmaceuticals united in our mission to achieve better drugs for patients faster. Valo is committed to hiring diverse talent, prioritizing growth and development, fostering an inclusive environment, and creating opportunities to bring together a group of different experiences, backgrounds, and voices to work together. We achieve the widest-ranging impact when we leverage our broad backgrounds and perspectives to accelerate a new frontier in health. Valo seeks to become the catalyst for the pharmaceutical industry and drive the digital transformation of the industry. Are you ready to join us?
What You’ll Do…
- Lead and execute electrical engineering projects from concept to production, while ensuring timely completion, quality, and budget adherence.
- Design, develop, and test stimulation infrastructure for Organ-on-a-Chip systems to depolarize cardiac and skeletal tissues during long term incubation and drug experiments.
- Code back-end instructions for stimulator and front-end user-interfaces, server logs, and result analysis tools to help biologists review stimulation parameters alongside hardware and tissue metrics with full code and architecture ownership end-to-end.
- Perform circuit design, simulation, and prototyping of waveform generators and execute small batch manufacturing.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot electrical issues, and implement corrective actions on existing system architecture including servers, incubators, and microscopes.
- Guide and mentor colleagues while providing technical support and training as subject matter expert for electrical engineering.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, and biology) to ensure seamless project execution.
- Collect requirements from users in tissue production prior to product development and document their changes throughout the lifecycle of completed systems.
- Author and maintain design history files to document product development, compose tests reports during the evaluate of prototypes, and write standard operating procedures prior to batch production.
- Qualify, on-board, and manage external vendors as well as consultants for a robust supply chain of consumables and custom-made parts, on time.
- Request quotes, negotiates competitive pricing to source materials, tooling, and supplies from external vendors.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and potential regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to intellectual property development, patent applications, and research initiatives.
- Support manufacturing and test components of our biological engineering platform.
