(Sr) Associate, Strategic Finance - GTM FP&A

Who We Are

Verkada is the largest cloud-based B2B physical security platform company in the world. Only Verkada offers six product lines — video security cameras, access control, environmental sensors, alarms, workplace and intercoms — integrated with a single cloud-based software platform.

Designed with simplicity and scalability in mind, Verkada gives organizations the real-time insight to know what could impact the safety and comfort of people throughout their physical environment, while empowering them to take immediate action to minimize security risks, workplace frustrations and costly inefficiencies.

Founded in 2016 with more than $460M in funding raised to date, Verkada has expanded rapidly with 16 offices across three continents, 1,900+ full-time employees and 25,000+ customers across 70+ countries.

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to help build the FP&A function at a high growth pre-IPO startup, as part of Verkada’s growing Strategic Finance team. As an early member of the team, you will play a critical role partnering cross-functionally as a trusted advisor to our various go-to-market teams to drive financial insights, decision-making rigor, and operational excellence, and help Verkada reach the next level of scale and operating sophistication in the process.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the primary FP&A point person to leaders across Marketing, Sales, and related sales support teams (including Sales Operations, Sales Development, Solutions Engineering, and Channel Sales)
  • Drive financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and ad hoc analysis for these teams, helping us improve our overall financial discipline and predictability
  • Identify opportunities to optimize resource allocation and operating efficiency, and work cross-functionally to drive through those changes
  • Help scale the Finance team’s impact through better tooling, self-serve automation, and internal processes
  • Get sh*t done! Be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting into the weeds to drive impact on a daily basis… we knock out today’s problems while also balancing our need to build for the long-term

We’re looking for:

  • 3-5+ years of top tier professional experience. You’re coming to us from a Strategic Finance, FP&A, Business Operations, or other highly analytical role at a fast growing startup, and may have begun your career in investing, banking, and/or management consulting.
  • High analytical horsepower paired with strong financial modeling skills. You can effortlessly translate business concepts to well structured spreadsheet models, and are excited to learn new analytical tools and generate insights through data. Familiarity with SQL/database concepts as well as modern BI platforms (e.g. Pigment) is a big plus.
  • High attention to detail and strong strategic instincts. You are meticulous in ensuring your and others’ output is precise and error-free, but pair this with a strong sense for 80/20 to know when things “pass the smell test” and what is critical vs. secondary to an answer.
  • A growth mindset and comfort with ambiguity. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment that will require you to create structure out of ambiguity, manage often competing priorities, and pivot quickly when circumstances change.
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills. You can effectively engage with a diverse array of stakeholders ranging from sales reps to engineers, and build the credibility, relationships, and buy-in necessary to strike the delicate balance between partnering and constructive challenging that this role requires. Fantastic written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • A team player with a low “ego to smarts ratio”. You bring a positive, learn-it-all (not know-it-all) energy to your teams, and are generally known for being great to work with. Life is short… we want to enjoy the time we spend with our colleagues!

Perks and Benefits

  • Strong cash and RSU package
  • Generous company paid medical, dental & vision insurance coverage
  • Unlimited paid time off
  • Monthly gym/wellness allowance
  • Monthly commuter allowance
  • Lunch and dinners provided daily in the office
  • Paid parental leave policy & fertility benefits

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
