Staff Product Designer

Remote USA

Location: Remote USA

What is Verse?

Energy markets are more volatile than ever. Rapid electrification and the rise of AI are driving unprecedented demand for power, while energy costs continue to rise across the globe. For the world’s largest energy buyers, managing energy has never been more complex or more critical.

Verse helps these organizations manage complex power portfolios with confidence by unifying energy data, planning, forecasting, and operations in one tool. Our Energy Cost Intelligence platform, Aria, brings together energy, finance, and operations teams with real-time, finance-ready intelligence—replacing spreadsheets and consultants with precision across the entire energy lifecycle. Built by an expert team of energy buyers, data scientists, and engineers, Verse enables faster, smarter energy decisions that reduce risk and lower energy costs.

The Role

Verse is transitioning into a design-first company, and we’re seeking a Staff Product Designer to help lead that evolution. This is a highly visible, high-ownership role where design is a core pillar of how products are conceived, built, and shipped.

As a Staff Product Designer at Verse, you’ll partner closely with Design, Product, Engineering and Data Science teams to shape experiences across multiple platforms while also contributing to brand, marketing, and physical/print design assets as needed. You’ll have meaningful autonomy, a seat at the table, and the opportunity to influence not just product outcomes, but how design operates at Verse.

This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in ambiguity, brings strong creative instincts, and wants to help define the future of design at an early-stage, mission-driven company.

You will be reporting to the Director of Design as part of Verse’s growing design team. While currently small, this position plays a critical role in helping build the foundations of a growing design organization - partnering closely with design leadership today and shaping how future designers will work tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end product design: Lead the full design lifecycle from discovery through execution — user research, synthesis, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and final delivery.
  • User research & insights: Plan, conduct, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research, translating insights into clear design decisions and product direction.
  • User experience excellence: Design intuitive, elegant user experiences with strong visual polish, interaction quality, and attention to detail.
  • Design systems: Contribute to and evolve Verse’s design system to improve consistency, scalability, and speed.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, and Marketing to shape problems, align on solutions, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Design-first influence: Support Verse’s evolution into a design-first organization by modeling strong design practice and influencing cross-functional partners through clarity, craft, and thoughtful collaboration.
  • Documentation & communication: Create clear documentation for research findings, design rationale, and systems to support alignment and scale.
  • Strategic ownership: Proactively identify opportunities and surface UX issues, partnering with Design and cross-functional teams to prioritize, align, and move work forward effectively.
  • Design partnership: Collaborate closely with other Designers on strategy, critique, research synthesis, and execution — helping evolve design quality, workflows, and shared standards across the organization.

What We're Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

  • 5–8 years of experience in product design, ideally in complex or technical domains.
  • Strong experience leading end-to-end UX, including discovery, research, and validation.
  • Excellent UI and visual design skills with a sharp aesthetic eye.
  • Deep understanding of UX principles and processes (e.g., double diamond).
  • Expert proficiency in Figma.
  • Familiarity with user research tools and best practices, including research documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, defining clarity, and exercising independent judgment.
  • A proactive, thoughtful approach to problem-solving with high ownership.
  • Kind, grounded, and collaborative — someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
  • Appreciates diverse perspectives and backgrounds, and believes strong teams are built through inclusion, empathy, and mutual respect.

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with interaction and motion design.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly for print and brand assets.
  • Experience contributing to or scaling design systems.
  • Background partnering closely with brand or marketing teams.
  • Experience working at early-stage startups building products from zero to one.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
