Role Overview

As a Senior Architect, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the architecture, design, and technical execution of our projects. Working closely with both internal VGV teams (strategy, product, design, and engineering) and external client subject matter experts, you’ll produce  technical architectural blueprints that are feasible and prepare our implementation teams for readiness. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Pursuit Leadership: Articulate Very Good Ventures’ technical capabilities and delivery approach to prospective clients, setting clear and achievable expectations around feasibility, timelines, and costs to maximize win rate and ensure successful program outcomes. Spearhead ambiguous spaces, often in the pre-sales phase of a commercial pursuit, to make architectural recommendations with little context; ability to quickly state assumptions in order to drive iterative prospect feedback.
  • Scoping & Estimation: Lead scoping sessions to accurately assess technical requirements, define the level of effort, and identify resourcing needs essential for successful delivery. Partner with cross-functional teams to estimate feasibility and realistic execution timelines. Identify and communicate critical technical risks early in the process, proactively suggesting mitigation strategies.
  • Architecture Design and Technical Leadership: Lead technical discovery and architectural design efforts in early project stages, working directly with delivery teams to support client vision realization.  Develop scalable, high-performing architectures that align with business needs, including defining system architectures, selecting technologies, and designing data models that achieve desired outcomes.
  • Client Management and Delivery Coordination: Form strong relationships with client leaders and engage directly with client delivery teams to ensure project requirements and resources are effectively aligned and that programs are delivered successfully. Facilitate the timely provision of necessary documentation, specifications, APIs, and system access from clients. Proactively manage client communications to set clear expectations, address any resource or access gaps, and escalate issues as necessary to maintain project momentum and quality.
  • Subject Matter Expertise and Specialization: Cultivate expertise in  technology areas relevant to client needs and VGV’s offerings. Act as a go-to resource within areas of specialty, contributing insights, support, and guidance to project teams where needed.
  • Documentation and Architectural Communication: Develop and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including system component diagrams, data flow diagrams, deployment diagrams, integration points, and decision records. Ensure clarity and alignment on architectural decisions with both internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Feasibility Analysis: Conducts feasibility analysis of potential concepts and future-state experiences, sorting concepts by implementation complexity and offering high-level guidance on how the client's technical stack would need to evolve to support each concept.
  • Prototyping and Feasibility Validation: Partner with our prototyping team to further explore technical feasibility. Perform research, technical analysis, and proof-of-concept exercises to validate technical feasibility and refine approaches to align outcomes with program resources and timelines.
  • Risk Identification and Mitigation: Proactively identify technical risks and constraints, proposing mitigation strategies and ensuring technical alignment with objectives to minimize potential project disruptions.
  • Dynamic Project Support & Expertise: Act as a flexible resource, providing targeted architectural guidance to in-progress projects across the organization. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, leveraging knowledge to enhance best practices, technology decisions, skill development, and delivery quality.
