Director of IT Infrastructure & Security
VIA is making an impact, and so can you.
VIA is the digital infrastructure company mission-critical organizations rely on when speed and security matter most. The Department of War, government agencies, and global enterprises depend on VIA to disrupt corruption, defend critical infrastructure, and deliver humanitarian aid. VIA’s products span agentic AI, zero-trust identity, quantum-resistant data, and offline stablecoin payments. Every human and agentic AI action is intentionally captured, attributed, and defensible. Designed for sub-second speed and multi-decade defensibility.
An impressive mission requires an equally impressive Director of IT Infrastructure & Security.
VIA is looking for a highly strategic, process-driven Director of IT Infrastructure & Security to lead our corporate technology and enterprise security operations. You'll take strategic direction from our VP, Software Engineering, while owning corporate system architecture, the IT budget, and the team's technical leadership, while leading the transition toward a highly proactive, automated technology environment.
VIA does not operate on a traditional management hierarchy. Instead, we rely on a culture of continuous coaching, cross-functional collaboration, and clarity in decision rights. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and regular, actionable feedback to our existing IT team.
You will be a primary key holder for the organization and the central coordinator for our compliance governance.
In this role, your day-to-day will include:
- Technical leadership & mentorship: Serve as the senior technical authority for corporate IT. Provide continuous, constructive feedback and technical mentorship to the IT team, fostering a culture of excellence in alignment with our People and Operations (POps) team.
- Human-centered compliance governance: Partner with the lead of Design to develop user-friendly security policies. Be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of technical controls required for CJIS, CMMC, SOC 2, and FedRAMP related to IT.
- DevSecOps partnership: Collaborate closely with the lead of DevOps. While they manage the production application infrastructure, you will ensure our overarching corporate security requirements, identity access management (IAM), and vulnerability monitoring extend to the product platform.
- Security operations & monitoring: Act as the primary operational point of contact for our external Security Operations Center (SOC) provider and manage our Managed Detection and Response (MDR) platforms across the corporate fleet.
- Facility management: Lead the IT and physical security infrastructure
- Budget, vendor & renewal Management: Own the IT department budget. Manage external contractors, negotiate SaaS/hardware contracts, and maintain strict oversight of all software vendor relationships and licensing renewals.
- Corporate automation (IaC): Champion Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) for corporate IT systems, automating deployments and standardizing configurations to guarantee rapid system disaster recovery.
- Core systems & endpoint management: Oversee, secure, and optimize our primary corporate technology stack: Okta, Google Workspace, JAMF
Requirements
What you will bring to this role:
- Mandatory: U.S. Citizenship and the ability to pass stringent background checks/clearances required to act as a primary key holder for federal-level compliance data and SCIF facilities.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in Corporate IT, Enterprise Security, and Cloud Infrastructure, ideally within a fast-paced technology organization.
- Compliance & federal track record: Hands-on experience successfully guiding a company through strict compliance audits (specifically SOC 2, CJIS, and CMMC). Strong working knowledge of FedRAMP requirements.
- Collaborative & UX-minded: A strong appreciation for Human-Centered Design. You understand that security must work with the user, not against them, and you excel at partnering with peers across Design and Engineering to achieve this.
- Coaching mindset: Comfortable operating in a flat, non-traditional hierarchy where influence, peer collaboration, and direct, regular feedback are valued over traditional administrative authority.
- Technical proficiency:
- Deep expertise in enterprise security architecture and identity management.
- Advanced administration experience with MDM (Jamf), Okta, and Google Workspace.
- Proven familiarity with MDR solutions, endpoint security workflows, and integrating with an external SOC.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS) and IaC tools to effectively collaborate with our DevOps teams
