Your Route Into Ops
At Via Logic, we believe strong operations make meaningful work possible. As a growing small business supporting federal and commercial clients, our operating needs span people and talent, finance, contracts, compliance, security, delivery operations, partnerships, and internal systems. We’re looking for a seasoned fractional Chief Operating Officer to serve as a high-level strategic advisor to Via Logic’s principal and founders. This individual will provide executive guidance on organizational growth, mergers and acquisitions, strategic positioning, operational maturity, and long-term business planning. The role will work closely with leadership to assess opportunities, identify risks, advise on structure and sequencing, and help prepare the company for potential transactions, partnerships, expansion, or other significant growth initiatives. This is primarily an executive advisory engagement, with limited hands-on support for selected strategic and operational priorities based on agreed scope, available hours, and leadership needs.
Your Mission
In this role, you will provide executive-level guidance across several operating areas, with priorities selected and sequenced based on the company’s most significant strategic and operational needs.
Business Ops
- Support the founders in organizing, prioritizing, and sequencing strategic and operational workstreams.
- Advise on how open priorities should be structured, assigned, sequenced, monitored, and escalated.
- Recommend operating rhythms, internal workflows, accountability structures, and cross-functional coordination practices.
- Provide high-level review and recommendations related to delivery operations, timekeeping controls, approval workflows, audit readiness, and operational risk.
- Advise leadership on enterprise-level risks and accountability related to facility clearance operations, security compliance, and DCSA obligations.
- Provide limited hands-on support for selected operational projects when specifically agreed upon within the approved scope and available hours.
People & Talent
- Advise on organizational structure, hiring strategy, recruiting operations, role definition, leadership capacity, and internal support needs.
- Support planning around performance reviews, compensation cycles, benefits decisions, team lead structures, growth frameworks, succession planning, and workforce readiness.
- Help clarify which responsibilities should sit with People/Talent, leadership, internal operations, outside advisors, or other functional owners.
- Provide limited project-based support for selected People and Talent initiatives when agreed upon within the approved scope.
Expanse
- Advise on vendor relationships, consultant support, strategic partnerships, and other external business relationships.
- Help leadership evaluate partnership opportunities, operational dependencies, risks, ownership considerations, and expected business value.
- Recommend processes for tracking and resolving material expense, vendor, consultant, or partnership-related matters.
- Support the creation or refinement of selected trackers, workflows, and ownership paths when those items are prioritized within the engagement.
Finance
- Provide executive-level guidance related to financial operations, bookkeeping cadence, reporting structure, profitability, forecasting, and cross-system coordination.
- Support review of financial and accounting matters such as QuickBooks Online structure, Gusto coordination, chart-of-accounts alignment, project-level reporting, invoice tracking, expense processes, and year-end or forward-year planning.
- Advise on financial and operational readiness for growth, investment, acquisition, sale, integration, or other significant business events.
- Help identify gaps related to reporting maturity, internal controls, audit readiness, valuation readiness, and due diligence preparation.
- Clarify which matters should sit with internal operations, bookkeeping support, accounting or tax advisors, legal counsel, or leadership.
- Coordinate with internal team members and external finance, accounting, tax, or legal partners as needed and within the approved scope.
Contracts
- Advise on operational tracking and strategic risk related to NDAs, subcontracts, contract actions, GSA MAS updates, SAM.gov requirements, and related compliance activities.
- Help structure registers, trackers, ownership paths, and escalation processes for material contract and compliance matters.
- Provide guidance on how government contracting requirements should be documented, assigned, monitored, and escalated.
- Advise leadership on contractual, regulatory, security, and operational risks that may affect growth, partnerships, transactions, or long-term enterprise value.
- Support transaction-readiness and due diligence planning related to contracts, compliance, security, and organizational risk.
- Provide limited contract or compliance coordination for selected priorities when specifically assigned and agreed upon.
Because this is a limited-hours fractional engagement, priorities and any hands-on support will be reviewed, sequenced, and agreed upon with Via Logic’s principal and founders. Additional work beyond the approved monthly hours must be authorized in advance.
