Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to create, edit, and maintain high-quality documentation for our cutting-edge space systems, technologies, and mission operations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and program managers to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly materials for internal teams, customers, and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including engineering specifications, test procedures, operations manuals, and product guides for space processing systems, radios and optical components. .
- Work closely with engineering, business development, and program teams to gather technical data and ensure content accuracy.
- Write and edit documents to meet NASA, FAA, DoD, and international space industry standards (as applicable).
- Create illustrations and diagrams in collaboration with CAD and design teams.
- Organize and manage document control systems to ensure version accuracy, configuration management, and compliance with internal and customer requirements.
- Review and edit engineering reports, proposals, and white papers for clarity and consistency.
- Support proposal development by preparing technical sections for government and commercial contracts.
- Ensure documentation aligns with ITAR/EAR export compliance and company confidentiality policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Aerospace, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in technical writing for aerospace, defense, or other highly technical industries.
- Strong ability to understand and communicate complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems (e.g., Windchill, SharePoint, Confluence).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for grammar, formatting, and details.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with space systems and satellite technology.
- Experience with DITA/XML, LaTeX, or structured authoring tools.
- Knowledge of NASA, DoD, or ESA documentation standards and export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).
- Basic understanding of CAD drawings or engineering schematics.
