Director, Product Development

Warby Parker is looking for a seasoned Director to lead a subset of our Product Development team in the creation of beautiful frames in partnership with our designers. In this highly collaborative role, you’ll be accountable for the development, sourcing, and production management of both optical and sun products as well as accessories and packaging.  We’ll count on you to help Warby Parker set and execute a strategy for our vendors that aligns with our core values, growth trajectory, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. What you’ll do:

  • Lead our Product Development team and set team strategy and high-impact objectives 
  • Accountable for the end-to-end execution of our consumer-facing product, including packaging, accessories, optical and sun frames 
  • Evolve vendor vision and overall matrix, engaging key partners on immediate and long term growth plans with an eye on transforming global complexities 
  • Examine quantitative and qualitative data to assess opportunities within current vendor landscape and operating plan, including scalability, social innovation, environmental impact, new capabilities, quality, and cost parameters
  • Optimize calendar, processes, and tools used to facilitate the full product lifecycle of sourcing, development, and production
  • Create strategic alignment between cross functional departments and identify misalignment and strategy gaps in pursuit of achieving company wide priorities and growth targets
  • Resolve on complex issues that involve an in-depth knowledge of international manufacturing and the overall global landscape of material suppliers and optical vendors 

Who you are:

  • Backed by 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven team leader excelling in hiring, retaining, and motivating talent 
  • An excellent communicator (online and in-person) who demonstrates strong cross-functional collaborative skills
  • Well-versed in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, people, and external vendor partners 
  • Expert in working with international vendors and understands the cultural, regulatory, commercial, operational, and logistics implications of operations within that setting 
  • Exemplary knowledge about and experience with direct communication and negotiations with vendor partners
  • Seasoned international traveler with sharp production floor evaluation methodology, specifically in China and surrounding regions

  • Oracle Fusion ERP & companion PLM fluency

Warby Parker, in good faith, believes that the posted salary range is accurate for this role in New York at the time of posting. Warby Parker may pay more or less than the posted range based on factors such as relevant experience and skills, qualifications and location, among others. This range may be modified in the future. In addition to base salary, this role is also eligible to receive a cash bonus and an equity bonus as part of the total compensation package. Details and eligibility will be discussed during the application process.

New York Pay Range

$131,250 - $150,000 USD
