Make Wayve the experience that defines your career!
The role
As a an ML Engineer, you will contribute to the development of machine learning systems that are deployed in real vehicles. Depending on your background and interests, you may work on improving driving performance, developing feature-level behaviors, or contributing to safety-critical components such as collision avoidance and driving boundaries.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on model development, experimentation, evaluation, and infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with engineers and scientists across Autonomy, Safety Systems, Simulation, and AI Platform to deliver impactful ML solutions that make autonomy safer, smarter, and more product-ready.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Improving model performance: enhancing robustness, generalization, and closed-loop driving quality through better architectures, loss functions, or training data.
- Training and evaluating driving models that support comfort, intent understanding, or collaborative behavior.
- Contributing to the design of intelligent safety mechanisms such as learned interventions or driving constraints.
- Mining and curating diverse datasets to improve model coverage across environments and behaviors.
- Developing pipelines and metrics for evaluating models in both open-loop and closed-loop settings.
- Collaborating with Simulation and Release teams to test your models in virtual and real-world environments.
About you
Essential
- 2+ years of experience in applied ML or robotics roles.
- Strong coding skills in Python and practical experience with ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch).
- Demonstrated experience building, training, and evaluating ML models.
- Solid understanding of ML fundamentals, experimentation, and data-driven iteration.
- Experience with model development, evaluation, and working with real-world or large-scale data.
Desirable
- Background in autonomous driving, ADAS, robotics, or safety-critical applications.
- Experience with behavioral modeling, intent prediction, or real-time control systems.
- Familiarity with simulation-based evaluation, driving data pipelines, or performance benchmarking.
