The Role

Wayve is scaling its IT capabilities globally, and we're looking for a seasoned Senior IT Operations Engineer to lead and evolve our IT presence in Sunnyvale. This is a foundational role in our US operations, responsible for ensuring that our infrastructure, devices, and systems enable world-class engineering, vehicle development, and operational scale.

As the most senior IT presence in North America, you will own key IT capabilities and processes end-to-end, with a focus on reliability, security, and efficiency. You’ll lead delivery of technical projects, develop scalable IT systems, and collaborate closely with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and facilities.

This role blends high-impact delivery with strategic systems thinking—and is ideal for someone who enjoys turning ambiguity into reliable, high-performance operations.

Key Responsibilities

Capability Ownership & Strategic Delivery

  • Own and maintain core IT capabilities for the Sunnyvale office and globally.

  • Define and document reliable, measurable processes aligned with global IT standards.

  • Collect and use high-quality metrics to assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

Technical Leadership & Execution

  • Lead projects across networking, device management, infrastructure automation, and endpoint support.

  • Anticipate dependencies, identify risks, and lead delivery of systems that are scalable, secure, and maintainable.

  • Design and execute onboarding/offboarding workflows, access provisioning, and inventory lifecycle management.

Collaboration, Communication & Influence

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for IT in North America—working closely with colleagues across Europe and APAC.

  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to align on capability goals and delivery timelines.

  • Maintain clear, user-friendly documentation and contribute to the global IT knowledge base.

Mentorship & Culture Building

  • Support and mentor junior engineers and service desk staff across sites.

  • Contribute to inclusive hiring efforts and represent IT in cross-functional initiatives.

  • Promote a culture of high quality, documentation, and systems thinking within and beyond IT.

Security, Compliance & Vendor Engagement

  • Implement and maintain security controls across endpoints, identity systems, and physical environments.

  • Own relationships with local vendors (e.g., ISPs, AV, MDM, office hardware providers), ensuring consistent service delivery.

  • Align local compliance efforts with Wayve’s global security and privacy requirements.

About You

Essential

  • 7+ years in IT operations, infrastructure engineering, or systems support roles in fast-paced environments.
  • Deep experience supporting and automating macOS, Windows, and Linux endpoints.
  • Strong technical skills across networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/DNS, VPNs), identity/access control, and site setup.
  • Practical experience with:
    • MDM platforms (e.g., Kandji, JAMF, Intune)
    • ITSM tooling (e.g., Jira Service Management, ServiceNow)
    • ITIL-aligned workflows (incident/change/request/knowledge)
    • Endpoint security, asset lifecycle, and zero-touch provisioning

Desirable

  • Skilled at identifying gaps in capability and proactively launching initiatives to address them
  • Experienced in stakeholder management and cross-team coordination

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
