Landscape Architecture Intern - Summer 2026

Wight & Company is currently looking for Summer Interns interested working on various project types from early planning stages through construction administration, with a focus on parks and recreation, education and municipal markets to work in our Land Development group in our Darien office.

Landscape Architecture Interns have numerous opportunities to network with professionals and interns from all the various departments at Wight. The relationships forged during an internship can last the duration of a career!

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the preparation of drawings on projects from design development through construction administration.
  • Participate in design sessions and public visioning outreach meetings.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend product manufacturers and construction materials.
  • Visit construction sites to review design intent and support team members during the construction phase.
  • Work both independently and with a senior team leader.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a landscape architecture program at an accredited university.
  • Must be outgoing, organized and possess strong written and verbal skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite; knowledgeable in GIS and Revit a plus.
  • Developing strong technical skills, including schematic design, hardscape detailing, grading, and construction documentation.
  • Experience with ornamental and native plants of the Midwest and an understanding of LEED and SITES is required.
  • Strong hand rendering, and digital graphic skills a plus.
  • Excited to work in a team environment and collaborate with Architects, Landscape Architects, Civil and MEP Engineers.

 

Salary Range: $20 - $25. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
