Location and Flexibility

This role will be in a Work From Near (Hybrid) capacity based in one of the following offices: Boston, MA, Charlottesville, VA, Durham, NC, or Columbus, OH OR in a Work From Anywhere (Remote) capacity with travel (40-50% of the time) to clients and WillowTree offices expected. 

The Opportunity

The Director, Business Development role is responsible for leading relationships with key strategic accounts, and for cultivating relationships with key prospective accounts. This role will largely focus on our Financial Services vertical. The Director will ensure that all aspects of account work, from strategic development to execution, exceed client expectations. While working with Business Development and Marketing leadership on a combination of product, brand, market, and sales strategies, the Director will coordinate new leads, field new business opportunities, and win new business.

WillowTree’s Business Development team encompasses a range of skilled professionals that drive innovation and growth on the front lines of client engagement. As a team, we rally around three distinct areas in the client journey map: Prospecting, Pursuit, and Expansion. A few responsibilities across our team include: identifying new relationships and opportunities, nurturing ongoing relationships with client partners, contracting agreements, writing proposals, pitching our services to prospective clients, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce WillowTree's business, proposition, people, and capabilities to new client prospects via calls/meetings
  • Consult with potential and existing clients to define digital strategy and digital product experiences and develop creative solutions -- help frame business/technical needs, project scope
  • Collaborate closely with Solutions Architects to propose appropriate team/resourcing plans for client briefs and develop pricing proposals
  • Leverage the talents of the UX Strategy and Design Team to ideate on behalf of clients, develop concepts to pitch, and develop pitch materials
  • Drive the overall process to combine technical plans and creative concepts into written proposals (RFP, etc) for submission and presentations for pitches
  • After a deal is finalized, you’ll work hand-in-hand with Project Management, Engineering, and Design leads to guide the overall product delivery and own the client relationship at the highest level
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients to expand partnerships, and extend WillowTree services on a client-by-client basis
  • Assist with developing strategies and plans for developing and deepening account 
  • You must have the ability to travel up to 25% for client visits, pitches, and conferences

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of consulting experience in a digital or technology environment.
  • Experienced working with, and presenting to, C-level professionals of Fortune 5000 companies
  • Deep understanding of software development
  • Skilled problem solver and value driver for clients. Ability to move clients toward valuable recommendations and high-impact solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering impactful presentations to executive and cross-disciplinary audiences
  • A deep sense of creativity -- oftentimes our clients are looking for inspiration and direction -- genuine enthusiasm/creativity in coming up with solutions for brands/clients

Bonus Points

  • Management consulting experience in Consumer or Financial Services
  • Engineering or computer science degree and/or background
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
