Who We Are 

Our Legal Team are responsible for navigating complex legal landscapes and providing strategic counsel to safeguard our mission and initiatives. They ensure that compliance and ethical standards are upheld in every aspect of our work.

What you will do

We are looking for a Product and Privacy Counsel to join our Legal team as we navigate evolving laws and regulations in healthcare, payments, consumer marketing/advertising, consumer and data privacy, and AI. This role is well suited for a proactive, hands-on, and experienced product and privacy attorney who is excited to build legal support structure and compliant-by-design product and service offerings.  

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Provide comprehensive, proactive and business-forward product legal counseling to the Engineering, and Product teams, including review of payment terms, general commercial terms and conditions, and implementation of subscription service models.
  • Review customer flows and journeys, product pages, product packaging, advertising collateral, promotions, and other customer-facing communications to ensure compliance with applicable privacy, data protection, consumer protection and advertising laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Support the business in evaluating the impact of state privacy laws, HIPAA, AI laws and regulations, telehealth laws, and other laws applicable to the business, and work with the Privacy Officer to develop and implement frameworks and processes to ensure WeightWatchers meets its legal obligations.
  • Support WeightWatchers’ privacy compliance efforts.
  • Develop expertise on laws and regulations specifically relevant to consumer health technology products, including privacy, data protection, consumer rights, and telehealth-specific legislation.

You are  a business-minded, collaborative attorney with an ability to think on their feet and solve hard problems that move the business forward while managing risk. You embrace navigating gray areas, are a strong communicator and have strong project management skills enabling you to move work forward in a results and deadline-driven environment.  You are a "doer" who thrives as a member of cross-functional teams building frontier technologies and services. You have a desire to develop a deep understanding of our service offerings, our technology and what we are building, and be ready to roll up their sleeves and jump in to solve difficult problems.  You also have a strong working knowledge of privacy and data security laws and regulations, experience supporting product launches, and a demonstrated ability to translate legal requirements into actionable advice for product, user experience, marketing and engineering teams. You are able to establish and maintain relationships, credibility, and trust with clients, stakeholders, legal team members, and other colleagues

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

  • Law degree with strong academic credentials and active membership in a U.S. state or international bar.
  • Minimum 5 years total legal experience, preferably both with a law firm and in-house. 
  • Related experience specializing in product development or privacy.

Preferred qualifications for this role include:

  • Experience in healthcare/healthtech and consumer products.
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws that can apply to healthcare and subscription businesses, such as anti-kickback laws, HIPAA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, and where applicable related state law requirements. You do not necessarily need to be a subject matter expert on all of these but must have a strong regulatory foundation and be comfortable with a high-regulated operating environment where multiple regulatory regimes apply.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams on large and complex projects.

Base salary may vary depending on, but not limited to: skills, experience, and location.  This role is also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package and annual bonus program.

US Pay Range

$200,000 - $240,000 USD
