Zynga is looking for an expert Art Director to lead one of our successful mobile slot machine titles. You will be responsible for the game's visual direction and inspire a hardworking team of 2D artists while regularly collaborating with Production, Design, Engineering, and Product Management. Beyond the ability to meet production timelines and business goals, this position requires an eye for quality and fun, as the Art Director is ultimately accountable for work that will be seen and experienced by millions of players every day. You are motivated, experienced, and a skilled artist with an appreciation for fun, animated graphics, a passion for casino games, and you are able to comfortably deliver and expand in the existing art style. You have an insatiable thirst to learn what our players want and figure out how to deliver it to them. This position will be located at any of Zynga's offices in the US or Canada. 

Main Responsibilities 

• Ensure all released art content, developed internally and externally, is consistent and high quality.

• Create Style Guides as needed.

• Partner with cross-discipline game team leaders to define and uphold a unified vision.

• Collaborate with Product and Design to set appropriate tone both at a strategic level, and on a feature-by-feature basis.

• Lead both formal and informal critique, and work through leads to disseminate feedback.

• Manage and mentor Art Leads.

• Assist in the setting of goals and objectives for the art team.

• Support the team’s career development.

• Understand the full creative pipeline from concept art, external art development, animation, and technical art.

• Continually improve and optimize the art development and art production processes.

• Assist Producers in developing plans and task assignments.

• Ensure feature estimates are accurately scoped and planned.

• Guide, mentor, and assist with hiring/recruiting of team members, and external studios as needed.

• Work with Marketing on creation and development of Marketing materials.

Desired Skills and Experience 

• An experienced Art Director with a strong passion for slots who moves quickly and can lead through change.

• Bachelor’s in a creative field.

• 5+ years of experience leading a creative team.

• Have a comprehensive understanding of multiple creative disciplines and how they function in the gaming pipeline.

• Knowledge of software like Adobe Creative Suite, Perforce, JIRA, and other software.

• High level of EQ and communication skills.

• Passionate about games - Zynga games, a plus!

• Be well-versed in the casino market and competition.

• Have a high quality portfolio with works that apply.

• Be an artist at heart!

• Experience in slots is not required but is highly desirable.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $170,200 and $251,920 per Year. The pay range for this position in Chicago, Il at the start of employment is expected to be between $149,800 and $221,680 per Year.  However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program. Regular, full-time employees are also eligible for a range of benefits at the Company, including: medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage; 14 paid holidays per calendar year; paid vacation time per calendar year (ranging from 15 to 25 days) or eligibility to participate in the Company’s discretionary time off program; up to 10 paid sick days per calendar year; paid parental and compassionate leave; wellbeing programs for mental health and other wellness support; family planning support through Maven; commuter benefits; and reimbursements for fitness-related expenses.
