SUMMARY:

AccuWeather’s Data Suite is currently used by hundreds of businesses. It is the most robust weather database available, with the cleanest, broadest, and most accurate set of historical (past), current, and forecast weather data. The AccuWeather Data Suite features the most temporal resolution (down to minutes) and the greatest spatial resolution (down to 1 km). AccuWeather has over 300 parameters, which is the largest known available, that can be correlated with your data assets to best determine your unique weather-business relationships, reduce variance, and lower weather-related risk. This unparalleled dataset provides the accuracy and depth needed for comprehensive weather analysis, AI modeling, and decision-making.

Reporting to the SVP of Enterprise Business Services, the Product Manager (PM) of Enterprise Data Services will establish the vision for the division that will include multiple go-to-market channels. These channels include established and emerging data marketplaces such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, etc. In addition, data licensing sales and distribution opportunities exist for current and new customers reaching through AccuWeather’s expansive digital footprint. Developing strategies to position AccuWeather’s data assets in innovative ways aimed at accelerating the data business growth of the above-summarized data set. The PM will be accountable for the overall success of the division, working closely with the SVP, sales, marketing, and technology teams. This role demands an in-depth understanding of the data, data analytics, and third-party markets. Understanding of SaaS-based business models and digital marketing required. 

The Product Manager will lead and drive data partnership revenue, strategy development, and execution.  This individual will be responsible for negotiating partnership deals and serve as the subject matter expert on AccuWeather Data Suite, working collaboratively with Ad Sales, Business Development, Marketing and Product teams.  

The role requires a proven leader with solid business experience, particularly in managing the sales of complex data sets. The ideal candidate will have a relentless focus on maximizing revenue and profitability.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for AccuWeather data marketplace partnership strategy and development.
  • Identify market and vertical opportunities, define data strategy for partnerships, and evolve and expand AccuWeather data products based on marketplace needs.
  • Subject Matter Expert on AccuWeather Data Suite in client discussions – specifically driving customer adoption of the Snowflake and Databricks Marketplaces.
  • Serve as AccuWeather data evangelist by providing thought leadership at industry events and conferences, focusing on the application and value of data to partners.
  • Drive revenue and foster relationships with data partners including Brands, Advertising Agencies, retail media networks, and ad tech platforms (including DSPs & SSPs).
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to develop data-oriented solutions to support both short and long-term business goals, growth, and innovation.
  • Plan, forecast, and execute on data revenue goals working closely with the Chief Business Officer.
  • Work closely with product teams to inform new products and data sets based on customer feedback and demand.
  • Serve as a liaison between Ad Sales team and data partners, building strong relationships and negotiating data partnership agreements.
  • Use strategy development, negotiation, analytical skills, and relationship experience to build key initiatives with both new and existing partners.
  • Monitor industry-wide trends in how data is used for competitive advantage and to further support client partners.
  • Technical competency and past experience in software development/engineering will be beneficial. 
  • Manage pricing and packaging of data offerings to align with market demand and customer needs.
  • Define and manage core data products, including Data Marketplaces, AccuWeather Enterprise API services, and specific Data Licensing B2B partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Worked in a data-driven role with a strong data background; understands the importance of first-party data relationships supporting AccuWeather Data Suite.
  • 10+ years of experience working in sales (preferably data sales) or been in a leadership role managing strategy and innovation.
  • Strong and innate leadership capabilities.
  • Has developed relationships while serving as a trusted advisor with key partners.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, capable of structuring business and data strategies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven dealmaker - Skilled in influencing external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills to drive improved business decisions.
  • Advanced Degree in Data Science is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills with the ability to present at industry events, presenting complex data analytics.
  • Collaborative with others, problem-solver, always driving toward a decision.
