Sr. Project Engineer - USV
Job Overview
The USV Sr. Project Engineer will lead complex engineering projects in support of organization programs.
Essential Functions
• Lead the planning, execution, and technical oversight of engineering activities across the project lifecycle, from concept through production and sustainment.
• Serve as the primary engineering interface between program management, customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
• Develop and manage system requirements, technical baselines, and interface definitions.
• Conduct risk assessments, trade studies, and engineering analyses to support program objectives.
• Coordinate cross-discipline engineering efforts to ensure integration and compliance with all applicable standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers to foster technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Support proposal development, cost estimation, and technical volume writing for new business pursuits.
• Responsible for development, implementation, and management of AS9100 design and development processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.
• Accountable for developing and documenting system and subsystem level requirements and interfaces in coordination with suppliers and design team. Responsible for verification of the 'as designed solution to those requirements.
• Responsible for defining system and subsystem interfaces and translation of those requirements across a multi-disciplinary team which they manage.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies
• Proven ability to manage technical teams and complex system development
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills required
• Required to display strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meeting project/company objectives.
• Experience in the following areas preferred: Unmanned Surface Vehicles - Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) - Flight testing - RC Aircraft or UAS - JIRA task management
Education / Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or related field) required.
• Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field is a preferred
• Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
Experience
• 10+ years of relevant experience leading teams in the development of aircraft, unmanned systems, and/or other complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience developing and tailoring System Engineering processes based on program cost, schedule, and risk tolerance
• Experience developing requirements traceability verification matrix (RVTM) and supporting the verification analysis and testing.
• Experience with ISO 9001/AS9100 standards in a design and manufacturing environment
• Experience using System Engineering tools to document and manage project requirements
