A Snapshot
As Manager, Civil Engineering & Technical Due Diligence, you will lead civil engineering strategy and technical due diligence across AirTrunk’s global portfolio. Acting as the in‑house civil SME, you’ll collaborate closely with Customer Solutions, Design & Innovation, Development, and Operations. Reporting to the Senior Director of Architecture & Master Planning, you will:
- Drive technical excellence, innovation, and efficiency across design and construction phases.
- Lead civil engineering inputs (earthworks, stormwater, flood modelling, utilities, etc.) and guide external consultants.
- Manage pre‑ and post‑purchase technical due diligence for new and existing APJ sites.
- Provide strategic insights that shape constructability, site acquisition, and development decisions.
- Connect multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, best‑for‑AirTrunk outcomes.
Your Day to Day
- Develop briefs and manage site investigations and technical due diligence.
- Build and manage consultant and contractor relationships.
- Tender, award, and oversee due diligence works across multiple sites.
- Prepare reports, peer reviews, gap analyses, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Maintain due diligence programmes aligned with master planning and design.
- Coordinate site investigations and represent AirTrunk with vendors and external parties.
- Present risks and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Develop early‑stage civil engineering strategies and steer 5% Design and subsequent phases.
- Review civil designs and documentation, providing technical direction.
- Collaborate with structural engineers on foundations, retaining systems, and major works.
- Conduct feasibility assessments (geotech, hydrology, servicing).
- Identify constructability, performance, and compliance risks.
- Respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and protect design intent.
- Contribute to Basis of Design, project requirements, planning submissions, and tenders.
- Maintain Civil Engineering Technical Requirements and integrate lessons learned.
Stakeholder Management
- Maintain alignment across Technical, Development, and Operations teams.
- Communicate progress and risks throughout due diligence and master planning.
- Review multidisciplinary deliverables at key milestones.
- Establish and manage programmes for due diligence and master planning.
Innovation
- Drive innovation in construction methods, materials, environmental design, and site planning.
- Define civil metrics to optimise master planning and site layouts.
- Advise on broader business areas using civil engineering expertise.
Required
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (practicing in Australia).
- 10+ years’ experience in civil design, construction, or development.
- Experience with mission‑critical or complex projects.
- Knowledge of NCC (BCA & DDA).
- Understanding of MEP coordination.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in 12d, Civil 3D, and/or AutoCAD.
- Adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable with rapid change.
- Ability to build relationships and deliver clear briefs.
- Willing to travel across Australia and APAC.
- Ability to develop and review design programmes.
- End‑to‑end project delivery experience.
Preferred
- CPEng and NER accreditation.
- Experience with Development Applications, SSDA (NSW), and DFP (VIC).
- Nationwide experience.
- Data centre design experience.
- Extensive site investigation and due diligence experience.
- Experience on complex, services‑heavy infrastructure projects.
- Campus and master planning experience.
- Greenfield and brownfield site planning.
- AGSVA Baseline/NV1 clearance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
- Experience preparing contracts and engaging sub‑consultants.
- Understanding of contracting and enterprise risk.
