A Snapshot
As the Design Manager in the Product Management team, you will report to the Associate Principal, Product Management, and work closely with the broader Customer, Solutions, Design and Innovation teams.
This role sits at the intersection of design leadership and product development. You will be responsible for leading the evolution of AirTrunk’s reference data centre products, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and aligned to customer and market needs.
Your role will be pivotal in:
- Leading projects with the support of a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) and product-focused design engineers.
- Driving the development and continuous improvement of AirTrunk’s reference design products across disciplines.
- Ensuring consistency, quality, and innovation across design standards, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Partnering primarily with internal stakeholders to shape product direction and technical solutions, with customer engagement where required.
Your Day to Day
- Lead cross-functional SMEs to drive outcomes, fostering accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence (without direct line management).
- Own the development, governance, and continuous improvement of AirTrunk’s reference data centre product designs across APAC.
- Integrate learnings from live projects into product evolution, establishing strong feedback loops between Product, Design, and Delivery teams.
- Collaborate primarily with internal stakeholders, with targeted customer engagement to inform product direction and requirements.
- Oversee feasibility studies, technical assessments, and the integration of new technologies into product designs.
- Drive alignment across disciplines (electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural) to deliver cohesive and optimised design outcomes.
- Ensure all product designs meet AirTrunk standards for performance, cost, constructability, and sustainability.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior stakeholders, including product roadmap, innovations, and key decisions.
- Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing project needs, priorities, and environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably electrical or mechanical) or a related technical field, with at least 8 years of relevant industry experience and at least 5 years in data centre or mission-critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting major data centre projects in a client-side, consultancy, or contractor role.
- Understanding of multi-disciplinary building services design, civil, structural and architectural.
- Experience with Building Information Management (BIM) and digital design tools.
- Ideally, experience working for a data centre operator and exposure to hyperscale design and cloud infrastructure in the APAC market.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
- Strong decision-making skills and accountability.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective presentations on to customers, peers, and management.
- Leadership acumen to support and influence multi-disciplinary teams (internal and external).
