
Senior/Staff Software Engineer

The Opportunity:
As we expand our ability to care for complex patient populations, the core teams that support this work are also growing! We are seeking a Senior/Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to help build and scale Amae Health’s patient and clinic facing technology platform. In this hands-on individual contributor role, your work will be central to shaping how patients and families access our precision psychiatry services, this role is fundamental to ensuring our solutions are both technically robust and adaptable to the evolving needs of care. As part of the technology team at Amae , you’ll help define how software development 3.0 can be harnessed responsibly in healthcare to expand access to life-changing care.

You’re a builder at heart, equally comfortable prototyping user interfaces and optimizing API performance. You care deeply about usability, reliability, and maintainability, and you enjoy working across the full lifecycle of a product: concept, implementation, deployment, and iteration. You’re mission-driven, passionate about mental health and healthcare innovation, and eager to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
You take pride in mentoring peers, raising engineering standards, and ensuring code quality across the stack. You’re energized by the fast pace of early-stage work and motivated to build systems that directly improve mental health outcomes for patients and families.
What You’ll Work on:
- Design, develop, and ship full-stack web applications using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
- Architect, implement, and maintain APIs and backend services that power our clinical and patient-facing experiences.
- Deploy, monitor, and scale production systems using Vercel, AWS, or similar cloud infrastructure.
- Integrate securely with healthcare data sources (EHRs, FHIR, HL7) in compliance with HIPAA and related regulations.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and clinical teams to turn real-world healthcare workflows into intuitive, performant software.
- Write clean, testable, maintainable code and contribute to internal tooling, documentation, and developer experience improvements.
- Help shape Amae’s long-term technical direction by mentoring teammates through code reviews and architectural discussions.
- (Optional) Experiment with AI/ML features that enhance clinical workflows and patient engagement.
What you’ll have:
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping full-stack web applications.
- Deep proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern front-end tooling.
- Strong backend experience in Node.js (Python experience a plus) and SQL/PostgreSQL.
- Experience deploying and managing applications on Vercel, AWS, or equivalent cloud environments.
- Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, and healthcare interoperability standards (nice-to-have).
- Solid understanding of security, authentication/authorization, and data privacy best practices.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment balancing rapid iteration with sound engineering discipline.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Amae Health is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
Base salary range for this role is $175,000 to $220,000 per year based on leveling and a full-time schedule and the compensation package will include equity. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate's experience and professional leveling and it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. These factors include, but are not limited to, job related knowledge and skill set, depth of experience, certifications, degrees, licensures, and specific work location.
