
LTL Claims Specialist

An integral part of our organization is our corporate claims management and legal department. We are looking to grow this department and continue to provide excellent customer service to our customers, carriers, and agents. The LTL Claims Specialist will focus on the intake, investigation, and resolution of less-than-truckload (LTL) cargo claims.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full life cycle of LTL cargo claims related to damaged, lost, and rejected freight
- Provide relevant insurance documentation to customers and carriers
- Organize and request documentation for LTL cargo claims from agents, customers, and carriers, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, inspection reports, and photos
- Review LTL carrier tariffs, bills of lading, and terms of carriage to determine claim liability and validity
- Negotiate with customers, consignees, and/or shippers following a rejected or damaged LTL load to determine course of action related to salvage
- Request insurance coverage for all-risk loads on a case-by-case basis and create insurance certificates for each load
- File and track claim reports with Carrier 411, Truckstop, and Cargonet
- Locate and develop case-relevant information to support claim resolution
- Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars to ensure timely claim filing and response within LTL carrier claim windows
- Other duties as assigned by the Claims and Legal Department
Requirements
- Willingness and ability to learn required LTL cargo claims processes, and/or 5 years or less of specific experience in cargo claims adjustment
- Familiarity with LTL freight operations, bills of lading, and carrier tariffs preferred, but not required
- Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to communicate efficiently and effectively via oral and written methods
- CCPAC (Certified Claims Professional Accreditation Counsel) preferred, but not required
- Ability to work in a hybrid or on-site capacity
