Government Relations Associate
As a team, we’ve launched five satellites into orbit, signed ten commercial deals worth over $1 billion in revenue, raised over $750 million from top global investors, and recruited a team of over 400 world-class engineers. We all work out of our (legendary) San Francisco office, which was once used to build ships during the World Wars.
Our satellites, which operate from geostationary orbit (GEO), weigh only 400 kg and utilize a proprietary software-defined radio payload. Each satellite can connect over two million people, and we’re very excited for the impact we’ll soon have in the Philippines, Peru, Mexico, and more!
Backed by substantial funding and a passionate, collaborative team, we offer a rewarding work environment where you'll learn and make a significant impact, no matter where you are in your career.
Government Relations Associate
Astranis is hiring a Government Relations Associate to join our growing External Affairs team. This is a unique opportunity for someone with recent Capitol Hill experience—perhaps in a Member office or committee—who’s ready to bring their energy, organization, and hustle to the private sector.
You’ll work closely with our Vice President of External Relations and support the day-to-day execution of our government affairs efforts, with a focus on Congress. If you’ve staffed briefings, written memos, tracked legislation, prepped a boss for committee hearings, and know your way around a policy calendar—this role is for you.
Role:
- Support Astranis’s engagement with Congress by helping track legislation, flag important developments, and prep briefing materials
- Assist in coordinating meetings on the Hill, including scheduling, logistics, and background research
- Join Astranis leadership (CEO, VPs, etc.) in meetings with Members and staff—sometimes helping lead, sometimes taking notes, always adding value
- Maintain contact lists, calendars, and trackers to keep our external affairs efforts running smoothly
- Draft or edit policy memos, meeting notes, internal briefings, and other written deliverables
- Help manage relationships with external consultants and partners—keeping everyone aligned and on deadline
- Monitor hearings, markups, and floor action for relevance to Astranis
- Jump in wherever needed to support a small and fast-moving team
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience on Capitol Hill (e.g., as a Legislative Assistant), ideally with exposure to national security, technology, or space policy
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Comfortable juggling multiple priorities and wearing many hats
- A team player with a bias for action
Bonus:
- Familiarity with the appropriations and NDAA process
- Relationships with staffers on relevant committees
Base Salary
$85,000 - $110,000 USD
