
Outreach and Engagement Director
The Outreach and Engagement Director will lead and develop a high-performing field team responsible for (1) engaging and enrolling new patients into Author Health’s services and (2) market development with provider partners. This in-market leader will leverage their expertise in cold outreach, sales strategy, and metrics-driven team management to expand access to care for the geriatric population living with severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and dementia.
The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with empathy, adaptability, and a results-oriented mindset. The leader should be excellent at training, supporting people to problem solve, and helping people achieve goals. They will ensure their team excels in connecting with individuals with health and social vulnerability and meeting enrollment targets while upholding our mission to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, hold accountable to metrics, and mentor Author’s in-market teams, including market-based Outreach Liaisons (OLs), Facilitated Telehealth Coordinators (FTCs), and Market Development Managers (MMs).
- Develop team members’ skills in cold outreach, patient engagement, technology and service education, and partnership development.
- Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-ones, and performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement.
- Actively problem solve to help team members achieve their goals and drive company performance.
- Support work to grow and scale the field-based team
Strategic Outreach Execution
- Design and implement outreach strategies tailored to the geriatric population, focusing on their unique needs and challenges.
- Develop and refine scripts, collateral, and outreach materials to maximize enrollment success.
- Drive appointment completion, including via technology facilitation, technology upskilling, and on-demand visits.
- Establish relationships with healthcare providers and hospitals to expand referral pipelines.
Metrics and Performance Management
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as referral volume, outreach volume, engagement rates, and patient enrollment.
- Use data-driven insights to refine strategies, improve team performance, and achieve enrollment goals.
- Prepare and present regular performance reports to leadership, highlighting achievements and opportunities for improvement.
- Personalize recognition and appreciation to reinforce positive behaviors and promote a positive team and patient centric culture.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Work
- Work closely with remote-based colleagues, including clinical and care coordination teams
- Collaborate with marketing to align outreach efforts with company branding and messaging.
- Support feedback loops to refine processes and improve patient experiences, including collaboration with product and technology teams.
- Help cover for team members that are out of office.
Person-Centric Engagement
- Lead by example in demonstrating empathy and understanding when engaging with patients, their caregivers, providers and other stakeholders.
- Advocate for the needs of underserved populations and ensure alignment with the company’s mission and values.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Business) or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in outreach, sales, or business development, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven success in managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by geriatric populations, particularly those with severe mental illness or substance use disorders.
- Experience with data-driven decision-making and performance management.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in behavioral health, telehealth, or a related healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with CRM tools and outreach tracking systems.
- Experience in high-growth and / or start-up organizations.
- Bilingual capabilities are a plus.
Salary range for this opening
Pay Ranges
$130,000 - $150,000 USD
