As a Research & Legal-Focused Analyst within the Trust & Safety Regulations team, you will play a key role in monitoring and interpreting global regulatory developments that impact our high-risk, recurring billing e-commerce environment. You will work closely with our Legal and Strategic Planning teams to assess regulatory obligations, analyze legislative frameworks, and propose compliance strategies that align with business objectives while mitigating risk.
You will lead efforts to translate complex legislation into actionable business requirements—particularly in regions such as North America, the European Economic Area (EEA), and other key English-speaking jurisdictions.
Our organization primarily processes recurring subscription payments in an industry classified as high risk. This requires both a strong foundation and ongoing development of specialized knowledge to understand the nuances between our sector and more traditional industries.
In this role, you will collaborate across teams—including Legal, Strategic Planning, Engineering, and Product—to plan, track, and evaluate initiatives and business adjustments related to regulatory compliance and changes in operational standards.
What you’ll be doing:
- Analyze applicable legislation such as implementing regulations in the EU Digital Services Act, the UK Online Safety Act, and other emerging regulations, and translate them into actionable business requirements.
- Study and assess the global regulatory landscape for high-risk and recurring billing-based business models, with a primary focus on North America, Europe (EEA), and other primarily English-speaking regions.
- Collaborate with the Legal team to monitor ongoing litigation involving non-Aylo e-commerce payments that may impact Aylo’s business units. Propose mitigation strategies and define implementation requirements.
- Propose risk mitigation strategies and compliance pathways, including updated internal policies and communication flows.
- Provide findings and recommendations through detailed reports and briefings to team leads and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Monitor developments in litigation or enforcement actions across the e-commerce space that may impact business operations; collaborate with Legal to identify mitigation strategies and implementation plans.
- Draft and deliver internal weekly updates, briefings, and emails to communicate upcoming regulatory changes
- Research current and upcoming regulatory compliance obligations specific to high-risk and recurring billing business models across key global regions (North America, EEA, and other English-speaking markets).
- Conduct regular analysis of evolving regulatory frameworks, including applicable legislation (e.g., EU Digital Services Act, UK Online Safety Act), and translate legal requirements into actionable business policies and operational needs.
What you’ll need to be successful:
Must haves:
- 2+ years of experience in a compliance or regulatory affairs role, ideally within an e-commerce environment.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and translate complex legal texts into business policies.
- Experience working with or supporting Legal and/or Privacy teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to assess business risk in the context of regulatory and legal exposure.
- Familiarity with global compliance issues affecting online merchants and recurring billing models.
- Ability to effectively leverage data to present insights and make decisions
- High level of comfort dealing with and interacting with Engineering, IT, and software development teams
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Nice to haves:
- Educational background in Law, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Previous experience monitoring global digital regulations.
